Imagine winning a U.S. Senate debate when you did the following:

Admitted you didn’t know what the current immigration law was. Flip-flopped on the marriage issue from a previous debate. Flip-flopped on subsidies during this debate. Said the first thing that differentiated yourself from your opponent was you were female. Gave probably the single most wretchedly-awful example of pandering in modern Iowa political history.

No one would expect to win a debate, and likely the Republican Party’s nomination for U.S. Senate, committing these kinds of gaffes. But “no one” isn’t Joni Ernst, who is living the semi-charmed kind of life. Apparently Ernst’s now-famous castration ad also served to castrate her opponents, because there they were for 90 minutes on the same stage as she.

Stve Deace is a dolt, no respect for any of his political insights.. He supported the now disgraced Kent Sorenson in a huge way. Deace used his radio show to heavily promote Sorenson.

Steve is an attention whore and wannabe political poobah in Iowa politics who cares more about raising funds and building a following than anything else.

Deace supported Huckabee. That’s all you need to know. He’s a Christian socialist theocrat that thinks a Ministry of Virtue and Vice in America wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

Deace may be a dolt, but 'his' candidate Sam Clovis isn't. Sam is smart (Air Force Academy grad), very knowledgeable and conservative across the board. He's the best debater of the candidates by a wide margin. Having seen one debate in person, a couple more over the internet and followed reporting on others during the campaign IMHO Ernst is a very weak debater. The Iowa GOPe likes her as much as all the candidates they nominated against Harkin in the past. I fear she'll do the same against Braley. I think Clovis could beat Braley and would become a great senator, but I fear Palin's support will carry Ernst over the line.
