My brother lost one of his mental health patients to Jeffrey Dahmer because the patient refused to take his meds, and they could not force him to get the mental health care he needed.

It makes no sense to me to put the decision for health care in the hands of those who are deemed mentally ill. I know someone who needs meds and is great when she's on them. Once she gets to feeling good, she takes herself off the meds and and the cycle repeats itself. I'm told that scenario plays itself out constantly.
