Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbours brother Jeppie Barbour, the father of powerful political operatives Henry and Austin Barbour, endorsed state Sen. Chris McDaniel in the GOP Senate primary over longtime incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS).
I am for McDaniel because Congress spends too much money and Thad Cochran is right in the middle of spending and borrowing money, Jeppie Barbour told Breitbart News in a phone interview on Wednesday.
I resent my grandchildren having to pay for these politicians to party. I am ready for a change, he added.
Jeppie's son Henry Barbour is running the pro-Cochran Super PAC Mississippi Conservatives, while his other son Austin Barbour is a senior adviser to Cochrans campaign. Though Jeppie has a lower profile than his brother and sons, he still bears the family nameand has been a GOP political insider in Mississippi for years.
A McDaniel endorsement from the heart of Barbour's political empire is one of several signs the GOP Establishment here is awakening to the fact that McDaniel just might pull off his primary challenge of Cochran.
Late Tuesday in Southaven, Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) told a GOP audience hell back whoever wins the GOP nominationnoting that McDaniel might beat Cochran, who Wicker endorsed.
On Wednesday morning, Mississippi GOP chairman Joe Nosefan acolyte of Haley Barbours who has officially stayed neutral but has drawn ire of Tea Partiers who suspect him of backing Cochransaid hell endorse and support whoever wins the nomination too, even if its McDaniel.

I smell a rat.
Cochran and his parmour n eed to be,retired.
Very interesting article in many ways, besides the Brother of Boss Hogg’s
Is voting for McDaniel. I don’t know what to make of the GOP
softening their tone.
I am unsure if it is an indication that McDaniel has survived the fake
scandal and these hacks are trying to make nice because last minute
polls show McDaniel has maintained his lead or their polls show Cochran
is now leading.
Given the reconciliatory tone put out by Wicker, it would seem that they’re preparing their supporters for the possibility of a mcdaniel win.
In the case of the Barbours it would seem that they’re trying to ingratiate part of the family with McDaniel in case he wins the primary. Can’t have the Barbour clan’s snout out of the trough. This is probably just good cop bad cop on their part.
Sounds like someone saw what is happening in TX and now is starting to question Rove’s nonsense.

Stop it! You can’t just add “mentum” onto any random person’s name and think it’s a word! It’s not!

“Rove’s RINO’s” got their teeth kicked in last night in Texas.
Here’s to hoping Cochran and Boss Hogg get the same treatment
in Mississippi next week.

The elder Barbour offered a parable to explain local views about violators of the border. Imagine cooking burgers in a backyard when an intruder crawled under the fence to eat one, he ventured. Would you offer him a second one, and later maybe invite him to stay the night? I dont think so. Youd set the dogs on him, or call the cops.
My, my, my........I guess the Mississippi GOP establishment is looking at the numbers from internal polling showing that the ROVE/COCHRAN smear campaign is not getting the traction they expected.
If that’s the case, look for more migration to McDaniel.
This is good news.
