I must ask (perhaps out of ignorance) but why does the VA need a Police Department? It seems that every Federal department has it’s own Law Enforcement Agency... I would think any Law Enforcement matters could be handled just fine by local or County Agencies. Perhaps, just perhaps it all comes down to CONTROL.

Every hospital has a security team, but those are easily purchased from security businesses. I’m doubting that hospitals in general run an internal security department. I don’t really know, though. If someone wants to correct me on that, please sound off.
