Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R) has lost his GOP primary, ending more than a decade in office.
The Associated Press has called the race for Texas state Sen. Dan Patrick (R), a hard-charging conservative who focused on illegal immigration. Patrick led Dewhurst by 64 percent to 36 percent with 9 percent of precincts reporting.

Dewhurst, a self-funding multi-millionaire, had finished well behind Patrick in the first round of voting two months ago. The race had gotten increasingly nasty in the closing weeks of the campaign, punctuated by the release of Patrick's mental health records. The lieutenant governor, first elected in 2002, never really recovered from his hard-hitting primary loss to now-Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) two years ago, and was vulnerable to a challenge from the right.
Democrats are hopeful that their nominee, Texas state Sen. Leticia Van De Putte (D), will have a shot now against Patrick in the general election due to his hardline conservative views,. Though Democrats are optimistic about Van De Putte and gubernatorial nominee Wendy Davis (D), any statewide nominee for the party still has a steep climb in Texas.

TEEEEAAAA PAAAARRTY!!
I used to like Jerry Patterson, but he’s changed dramatically. Power corrupts! He joined forces with Dewhurst and the TX GOP Establishment after Dan Patrick beat him out of the Lt. Gov. run-off. The two of them together did every slime ball thing they could think of to defeat Dan Patrick and the Tea Party. I’m lovin’ it. He who does not like revenge has never tasted it.

All Republicans have to do is promote conservatism and they'll win. This notion of moving to the middle in order to win is a complete, bald-faced lie.
Huckaby is ok

Huckabee (correct spelling) is not ok. He is so tight with Karl Rove and the GOPe crowd, I can’t stand the sound of his hillbilly voice or the sight of his fat, ugly face. He can kiss my grits.
Listen, don’t carry your personal grudges from thread to thread, and make your posting here personal, don’t become a stalker attacking individual freepers like a school kid.
The post was very clear, you should be able to respond as an adult and focused on the politics of it.

You shouldnt be lumping a rino/libertarian like Paul in with Cruz, especially tonight.

“This notion of moving to the middle in order to win is a complete, bald-faced lie.”
This is a Karl Rove bald-faced lie. The lie of a POS rino. We see them revered to as GOPe...they are not GOP in any way shape or form. The are Democrats-lite. I say ‘democrats-lite, because their purpose is to get Democrats elected, has nothing to do with getting anyone GOP elected, unless they are RINO’s. Rove is a legacy left us from Bush II...Bush II did us no favors.
“He can kiss my grits.”
You are right about Huckabee. He is Clinton-lite. But he would rather kiss your boiled peanuts! They are about as discusting as nearly all Arkansas politicians are.
Illegal immigration = border security
Or even “far - left” or “liberal extremist”. The most you get from the 5th Column, er, 4th Estate, is “left leaning” or “known as having (supporting) liberal policies”.
What do you Texans have to say on Wendy Davis’ chances?
All of the TEA Party backed candidates won in Texas tonight. Establishment candidates lost big and most of the Dallas Morning News backed candidates lost( the liberal ones) a kiss of death for a Republican conservative in Texas.
I think you should be taking your own advice.
The original poster made a valid point: good candidates can overcome money from the "establishment".
You injected your personal grudges into this discussion, not him.

That was your opening post to this thread.
I haven't seen prior exchanges between the two of you, and frankly I don't care. But in this thread, you came spoiling for a fight.
Grow up, at least for tonight. Then, you can resume your juvenile antics.
This sounds like a solid step in the right direction.
Let’s not forget about Pat Dewine, son of former Ohio senator, Mike Dewine.
Pat had all the DC money and endorsements but came in 4th
in the primary for a House seat.
I love that post and most and more particularly YOU!
God bless and keep you, precious musicman!!!!
