This is a real question. Do Christians who think Catholics worship Blessed Mother and Saints, think Memorial Day is a sinful activity?
It is the exact same thing we do in the Catholic church, except Catholics commemorate those who served God. As with veterans, for some commemorations are much more meaningful, for some they may overdo it?
For those that have passed away and were meaningful to us, is it a sin for Christians to put flowers at their grave? If Catholics do that they are accused of idol worship. It must be the same for Memorial day?
Granted, for some people the passing of a loved one can be the center of their lives, just like some Catholics may feel too close to certain saints, but shouldn’t God be the judge of that?
My mother seems to cherish everything that was my fathers after he passed away. I pray that God take care of her. In the scheme of things, she is a much better person that I am, and who am I to tell her she’s wrong.
Just saying.
Since when is remembering the dead ancestors subject to debate?
We owe them our all.
