Petro Poroshenko wins Ukraine's presidency in the first round, according to the results of two national exit polls, with approximately 56 percent of the vote.
Ukrainians elected Petro Poroshenko to be their fifth president in a vote that was dubbed "the second independence referendum."
Poroshenko won his presidency in the first round, according to two exit polls.
The poll conducted by four TV channels showed that he received 57.8 percent of the vote. The national exit poll, conducted by a consortium of reputable survey takers, put Poroshenko at slightly less -- 55.9 percent of the votes, but still a clear majority.
His main rival, former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, received 12.8 of the vote in the TV poll and 12.9 percent in the national poll.
Everyone else finished in single digits in both exit polls.
A second round of voting would have been required on June 15 if no candidate among the 21 on the ballot had secured the majority of votes.

“I may be totally wrong but I get the feeling that Obama and the dems are looking to start a major war”
I don’t think they are looking to start a “Major War”. But this is TWICE now that their incompetence has almost stumbled us into one. Russia is determined to not let what happened in Libya happen again.
I have always said the whole situation in Ukraine is part of a much larger Geopolitical game. that took advantage of the already existing unrest lying just below the surface. Lots of factors are at work here.
Also, remember how after Putin made a fool of Obama after the Syria episode, Dem pundits were all over the TV saying “there are other ways to get at Putin.
Now, WHEN did the radicals show up at the Maidan, and when did it turn violent??
“Yes, the Ukrainian people were able to have their dictator resign”
uhhh....
Yanko never resigned. His Cabinet did.
Yes, I thought that was pretty funny...Spokes woman’s eyes always look like she’s zoned out...but putting Yulia’s braids on her really was too funny!
“because their is no such evidence. Just lies”
I’m not a lawyer, and I don’t play one on TV or the Internet.
But, I can follow breadcrumbs. Google can be your friend, do you not know how to use it?
Yanukovich most certainly did resign, until someone (Putin) made him “change” his mind. Speaking of Yanukovich, there hasn’t been much news of him lately.
“Crimea is united with Russia for good, I think that is best given that it is full of Russian soldiers and their most important port facility is there.”
It may not be “for the best”, but the Russians certainly aren’t stupid. They knew what was going on next door in Ukraine, and made plans to act if the government fell.
I don’t think the Obamunists thought Putin would react to it, or, if he did, that he would react so fast. You can tell by the Administrations reaction, they didn’t have a plan B. Twitter hashtags don’t constitute an effective policy.
You're ignoring all the facts and I've pointed this out to you before. It wasn't peaceful up until then.
The violence started Nov. 30th when Ukrainian police violently ejected pro-EU protesters from Kiev square.
Or have you forgotten the burned and beaten "cops"? Is that too convenient a truth to accept?
Now you're lying again. I've never defended the beating of cops and I've posted the full time line of the Maiden details that documented ALL the violence.
Do you understand that?
On the other hand you have a long history of defending against the removal of Yanukovich who's Berkut was responsible for the killing of many unarmed protestors.
And you have a history of lying when somebody challenges you with facts.
“Yanukovich most certainly did resign”
How about a link to that, then??
Sure. And Obama was around in ~2007 and lit the bonfire in Georgia. And Obama was around in 2004 and lit the bonfire in Ukraine.
Right??
“On the other hand you have a long history of defending against the removal of Yanukovich”
By ALL means, please link to whenever I have said that. Who is lying now?
Tunisia, Libya, Egypt....
All that needs to be said in response to that.
That you choose not to accept premise, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
lol...
I don’t have evidence of the Immaculate birth, either.
Or Aliens from Mars in bikini’s.
And who is Alex Jones?
Putin vowed to honor the election.
I imagine troops are on the way now.
Yanukovich did sign off on early elections. We've now had those elections.
He’s another nutcase like you who spreads totally false enemy propaganda.
“Yanukovich did sign off on early elections. We’ve now had those elections.”
Now, what will be the end result?
Granted, it is early, the election jusr happened, and the actual votes are still being counted, but how the Oligarchs react to it will tell the tale, I think.
Especially Kolomoisky...
No, I choose to look at the evidence. You choose to ignore it.
Direct evidence points to Obama and his MB friends in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and Syria.
And a history of direct evidence points to the people in Ukraine and Georgia rising up against Putin's puppets with out the help of Odumbo.
s-t-r-e-t-c-h!
By ALL means, please link to whenever I have said that. Who is lying now?
What wait.
You were for the removal of Yanukovich???
