On May 24, the family of Santa Barbara shooting suspect Elliot Rodger released a statement through their attorney saying they are "against guns" and support gun control.
On May 23, their son allegedly shot and killed 7 people, including himself, and wounded 7 others. Breitbart News reported his motive was "retribution" for women who had rejected his advances.

I understand the family’s desire to address, “mental illness and the ramifications from not recognizing these illnesses.”, but there are a large number of mentally ill individuals who don’t harm anyone.
There is evil in this world, and we just witnessed another evil act today.
I would like to release a statement in support of better parenting. The kid was void of good values and morals.
There was a time in America when Rodger’s father perhaps accompanied by one or two male relatives would have marched into his disturbed kid’s apartment confiscated the guns privately and cut off all the generous financial support before this lunatic started shooting. Period. That’s the kind of gun control that is effective.
I think they would be better served calling for more mental health aid and institutionalization of disturbed people like their child. This playing the gun card is BS, their warped, sick child that they raised is to blame for the carnage not a tool. Does anyone really believe he would not have still killed if he did not have access to a gun? Hell he was driving a weapon!

But in the end when he went on his murder spree it was men with guns who stopped the worthless monster.
The next time you need help call someone with a movie camera.
You won’t hear about the three men stabbed to death, you will never hear about them again, like they never existed, the weapon used to kill them doesn’t fit into the media anti gun narrative
In a sane world, this horror show of a family takes a long vacation to a place where the people don’t have televisions.
In this country, they’re given a political platform in the national media to campaign against the Bill of Rights.
It doesn’t even seem real anymore.
Since cops these days want to overturn the 2nd Amendment and disallow guns (except for themselves), it benefitted them to do a rotten background check on this psycho so as to forward their agenda.
I understand that too, but why disarm us all because sonnyboy is a looney?

2.5 million home invasions per year
40,000 deaths per year in car accidents in U.S.
these mass shootings are statistically non-existant events.in other words you have more of a chance of getting hit by lightning than being shot by a mass shooter. there a trillion to the trillionth power events ever year in the USA. the media picks a few of these events to make them the top news of the month . the media does this to advance the democrat agenda , grow socialism/government
any thing can and will happen in a country of 330 million people. you have 1% chance of getting audited by the IRS . even that is a small chance. the media makes this a crisis. it is not just as other flukes are not real problems
Reading the kid’s “manifesto” about how all women should be put into concentration camps because they are evil. The family’s call for more gun control is no different.
So that it’s easier for other loonies to force themselves on those now-disarmed “evil” women who rejected them.
Personally, it’s a reminder of why I stay armed.
