Castro was always a Communist in name only. His heroes were Hitler and Alexander the Great, not Lenin and Stalin. Raul and Che were the true Communists, and Raul preferred Chinese Communism. The Soviets didn’t like Castro and he didn’t like them, but they had common enemies. He would have loved to have seen the US and the Soviet Union totally destroy each other. I’m sure he had dreams of stepping in and ruling what would have been left of the world.
