A fundraising effort has started to help pay the legal bills of former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner.
On May 7th, the House of Representatives approved a contempt citation against Lois G. Lerner, former Director, Exempt Organizations, Internal Revenue Service, for “refusal to comply with a subpoena duly issued by the Committee on Oversight & Government Reform.” Lerner handled matters relating to the tax-exempt status of organizations.
This week’s fundraising letter was addressed to former employees of the Federal Election Commission, where Lerner worked prior to the Internal Revenue Service. The letter, states, in part:
“We are quite concerned about the heavy financial burden (not to mention the psychological burden) these partisan actions have imposed on Lois. She has lost her job, been subjected to death threats, and has been forced to incur significant costs in retaining legal counsel. Hence, we’ve decided that we must do what we can to help her. Clearly, we cannot get Lois her job back or stop the hate mail. However, we can reach out to others to seek help in defraying her legal defense expenses.”
The letter was signed by two former employees of the Commission.
Editor’s note: This letter was received by the post’s writer, who is a former FEC employee.
Is it possible to give a negative amount?
I would provide financial help if she would provide concrete proof that Obama knew about and directed the IRS abuses.
Has she been properly approved of as a non-profit organization by the IRS yet?
I’ll kick in to pay for an orange jumpsuit.
:)
If I didn’t have to pay postage, I would send her a bag of dog shit!
The writer needs to give up the names of the people who put out the letter.
Some folks like to return self-addressed, postage-paid fundraising envelopes empty to non-profits they don’t like. The cost to the organization is at least triple what postage would be if paid by the sender.
Lost her job? She retired before she could be questioned.
LOL, if only.
Maybe she could sell that million dollar mansion she lives in that our tax dollars paid for.
He did, the link to the letter is in the article.
Is the donation tax deductible?
Send a check for $.05
It’ll cost them more to process the check than the check’s worth.
Ahhh ...thanks!
In other words, the Democrats are paying her hush money
Certainly didn't seem to bother too many people when the same thing was happening go Gov Palin.
Cry me a freaking river.
Absolutely, Jaz. The woman deserves no sympathy at all. She deliberately set out to destroy people she disagreed with. Her acts were criminal.
I agree, cry me a river!
There is a P.O. Box listed in the letter. I think that Freepers should send Ms. Lerner a personal note.
