Jeff Zucker, the president of CNN, was very forthright about his media priorities at a Society of Professional Journalists dinner in New York City on Monday.
He told Bill Carter of the New York Times: Climate change is one of those stories that deserves more attention, that we all talk about. But we havent figured out how to engage the audience in that story in a meaningful way. When we do do those stories, there does tend to be a tremendous amount of lack of interest on the audiences part.

“But we havent figured out how to engage the audience in that story in a meaningful way.”
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
“But we haven’t figured out how to tell a believable lie to the audience in a way that ignores the facts.”
FIFY, CNN.
Hard sell= propaganda supporting the climate change hoax as a means to give government more control over our daily lives.
I would suggest "When we doo-doo those stories,..."
The global warming argument, to use the trite expression, “Has jumped the shark”.
To express it in terms they can understand, the typical lifespan of a reasonably good TV show is four seasons. After that it is likely burned out. But global warming is like a TV show that was never very good in the first place, but the network continues to renew even though its ratings are in the toilet, because it is produced by the network president’s nephew, a talentless bum.
Another way of describing it in media terms is like the radio network Air America. Little more than a dumping ground for leftist’s money, run by gonefs, with pigs as radio hosts.
Yet another way are Hollywood leftists who fund and star in recent anti-war movies. They don’t care if the movie loses millions, as long as they can throw their feces at the audience like chimpanzees.
That is man made global warming in a nutshell.
“Snake Oil” sales hit the big time . . . did we not used to tar and feather folks like this????
They cry "wolf", get caught fudging the data and the models, and show a complete inability to accurately forecast based on the models. Then they wonder why no one listens any more. How surprising!
Wait, what?
1st qtr, 2014 U.S. economic growth was at .01% indicating that the economic goal of “Sustainable Development/Agenda 21” as adopted by the U.S. has largely been met. This also fulfills the machevellian wish of Maurice Strong, UN Chairman of UNCED aka The Rio Earth Summit where in 1992 he articulated the veiled intentions of the “Plan for the 21st Century- Sustainable Development/Agenda 21” by saying this in regard to our “unsustainable” high consumption of natural resources which is, according to them destroying the Earth; “...isen’t it our responsibility to bring about the collapse of the industrialized countries?” Now, to become truly as “Sustainable” as Bangladesh is, more vital work is quickly needed to further collapse and “Degrow” the economy. This will be accomplished by more draconian restrictions on business and energy use which will be mandated by arbitrary regulations spawned by the bogus hype to save the planet from the dread effects of antropogenic Global Warming aka Climate Change aka Climate Disruption.
I remember when the Fox News Channel (FNC) got started (1996) and it was such a non-event as CNN was ever so dominate in the cable news as to be an indomitable giant. They had the foreign new bureaus that the broadcast networks and newspapers were giving up, they had the permanent lock on the display TVs in public places, they had the cable providers from the beginning, in short they were in the catbird seat!
If it isn’t yet, this should be a business school lesson on how to lose your market. FNC did have the matching resources to the CNN for news in the Murdoch media empire but it made its mark domestically in not becoming another “me-too” liberal mouthpiece from the get-go! If anything is a mantra in the new business entrepreneur play book, it is differentiation and customer satisfaction. Whether it was purposeful for ideology or for business success, FNC seized the middle field of the political spectrum that had been long deserted by the MSM and made it theirs.
As my fellow FReepers will so frequently point out, much of FNC is not sufficiently conservative for their liking and I haven’t seen a single like of BO’R in ages! Still, the fact is that FNC and its sister channel, Fox Business, are only evil conservative right-wing villains if you are in the left-wing spectrum of the MSM and current White House alliance.
This CNN directive just goes to show how blinders will wreck your peripheral vision! CNN is working to join MSNBC in the skip-channel segment.
Frankly, it has become a joke in North Dakota, where despite our best efforts to warm the planet with all the gas flares (/s--lest some fool quote that), we're still not noticing significant differences.
School books, tv shows, kids cartoons, virtually everything is saturated with the mantras of this whacko religion and people are either laughing at it, rolling their eyes, or disgusted with solutions looking for a problem (typical government added expense).
At some point, it becomes an "Aw geez, not this sh*t again moment", every time you hear about it.
More crap on the pile isn't going to make the manure smell any better.
The public has been listening to you guys cry wolf for the past 30 years and they are tired of it already.
The earth is NOT dying.
LOL! I know. And yet we hear the asshats complaining that the conservatives have guided the media since Nixon. Yeah, right. If you believe that then I’ve got some beach front property in NV to sell you. :>}
Then, when nobody cares, they have to amp up the rhetoric to the point where they're screaming "It's too late! All is lost! The glaciers are all melting!" causing people to think "All is lost. Que sera sera."
750 years from now, the coastlines will look different. That's generations and generations away, and people won't even notice any change over the course of their own lifespan. Populations will move and adjust as they've always moved and adjusted to climate changes. And there's "nothing we can do about it" since they've decided we're post-tipping point.
And why would we try? What is so special about the pre-industrial global temperature that makes it so awesome and worth preserving? Is there some reason the global temperature in 1890 was particularly awesome, compared to the global temperature in 1230 or 5,000 years before that, or 25,000 years before that, or 250,000 years before that?
And if we finally decided that it would be a good idea to set the global temperature manually, why on earth would we think the clowns who run governments would know what to do and would do it competently, honestly and equitably? They've never shown much inclination in those directions before.
If it makes you feel better, send some more money to Al Gore about it. He's down to $300 million in personal wealth these days, and his chakra is all bunched up about it.
The only way they can scare people about climate change is to claim that global warming will result in a new ice age. That is the tack that a couple of global warming movies took.
And when people and the legislature don’t seem to care, the lyin’king always has his pen and phone.
The Green movement is aptly named as only the wealthy can afford it. The middle and lower classes cannot.
Indicator #1642 that man-made climate change is bunk: if you have to “sell it”, it isn’t science.
A favorite cartoon of mine to show to Liberal friends...
