The President wants to initiate/redirect/change the direction of foreign policy. It makes all the sense in the world to call in the members of the Foreign Relations committees of the House and Senate -- both majority and minority -- and give them a heads up/seek their opinion.

Do you then leave that briefing to your Chief of Staff and the National Security Advisor?

I wonder where the President was while this was going on. At yet another fundraiser? In the personal quarters? Or shooting hoops with Reggie?

Aside from evidently "bizarre" subject matter, this was not an act of leadership. It was the act of a disengaged and uncaring...authoritarian.

Before he became Chief of Staff, McDonough was deputy NSA and administrative head of the National Security Council. Plus, the NeoCon Republicans think highly of McDonough.

I would say that the problem is conflicts within Congress. Congress is very unified on the NSA eavesdropping, but on the other issues such as the Iranian sanctions, bombing Syria, and arming the Syrian rebels there are serious conflicts

I would also say that are conflicts between AIPAC and J Street
