Fresh off his resounding Republican primary victory Tuesday night, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Thursday laid out a broad vision of what the Senate would look like under his control.
Bottom line, McConnell, wouldnt run the way Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., runs it now, the Kentucky Republican told the center-right American Enterprise Institute.
A Senate majority under my leadership would break sharply from the practices of the Reid era in favor of a more free-wheeling approach to problem solving, McConnell said in a speech. I would work to restore (the Senates) traditional role as a place where good ideas are generated, debated and voted upon. Wed fire up the committee process. Wed work longer days and weeks, using the clock to force consensus.
And McConnells money shot: In marked contrast to the Reid era, we would allow an open amendment process ensuring senators on both sides a chance to weigh in on legislation and alleviating the frustration that inevitably results when they cant.

I agree. The left have had their day. Karma is still a bitch, McConnell. Give the left a taste of their own medicine. Take no prisoners. Do to them what they are doing to us!
From the sound of things, one must conclude that McConnell is an unelectable candidate.
In other words the Dems will still run the place
Probably make Democrats the head of major committees
Since you’re predicting future events could you include the winning numbers for this weekend’s Powerball drawing?

I love it when they use porn terminology.
It’ll be Collins not Cornyn. The GOPe wants to “put a woman’s face” on the Party.
She gave a clear signal in Feb when she and Murkowsky forced Mitch and John to vote for the debt hike cloture.
She wouldn’t have done that without backing from the GOPe higher ups.
Just saying.
!
Is ol Mitch advertising himself for sale to the highest bidder?
Par for the course in DC.

It’s not going to happen. When it comes to dealing with the DimocRATS, McConnell has absolutely NO testicles. The Senate DimocRATS have been denying the Republicans a voice (e.g., no amendments allowed) for years and McConnell will REWARD the abuse by being completely nice to the DimocRATS who have been playing for keeps.
McConnell, if he comes to “power”, does not want to merely “turn the other cheek” to evil, but wants to require the Senate Republicans to bend over and spread their cheeks to the DimocRAT statists. And then he wants to have the Republican then turn around and drop to their knees.
How about a carefully thought out plan involving Adults and not activists?
Na, what good would that be.
What a Maroon (Bugs Bunny)
Mitch McConnell is incapable of leading....
This DC elite is delusional.
The KY Dems wanted to run against this K Street bagman. rather than Bevin.
Mitchy polls behind their Little Commie.
.Mitch destroys the base and he us toast in a year in which DC insiders are hated.
In other words, Mr. No Spine will fold like a cheap suit every time the dims cry
If it's a woman they want, why not Lindsey Graham? Lindsey is more of a woman than Susan Collins will ever be.
YEARS of evidence to support THAT!
Consensus is not the solution. Consensus is the problem. Conservatism needs to win. Liberalism needs to lose.
People that insist on finding excuses to keep supporting their own demise deserve everything that they bring upon themselves. The rest of us, unfortunately, have to suffer the results of their self inflicted stupidity.
I wonder when FR went from being a conservative site to a GOP site. The mission statement still reads conservative, but we are overrun with GOP ‘moderates’ fully on board with lesser evil.
And so we sit uselessly, hamstrung by internal division. Just as the GOP intended for us all along.
Consensus is not leadership.
