Mitch McConnell Embraces Old Enemies as Friends
ABC News ^ | May 21, 2014 | By Jeff Zeleny

Sen. Mitch McConnell was all smiles today: Not only because of his Republican primary victory in Kentucky, but because of a string of about-face endorsements from conservative groups intent on destroying him.

“I’m happy to have them on board,” McConnell said dryly, standing just off the floor of the Senate, where he hopes to become majority leader in November if Republicans pick up six seats and control of the Senate.

“Collectively, this group spent about $1 million against me in the primary,” McConnell said. “But they all got on board last night.”

Not only did they get on board, they fell into line. And fast.

Remember the 11th commandment - “Thou shalt not speak ill of thy fellow Republican.” - Ronaldus Magnus

Hasn't worked that way for Tea Party candidates and those that have been elected.

I send my money to conservatives and I vote for conservatives. If there is no conservative on the ballot I won't be voting.

Good analysis. Why should conservatives vote for someone who gloats that the chamber of amnesty Judases helped him attain his goal of crushing the TEA Party? He does not respect conservatives and should not expect them to vote for him.

How soon people forget. These are the same GOPe folks who exempted themselves and their staffs from obamacare, but stood by and let it be imposed on me and mine. Why would I ever vote for them again?

It is sad how so many of the e-GOP crowd want to forget that statement while trying to crush conservatives, but then shove that in our face when they need our votes... I don't know about anyone else, but if you want me to follow that commandment AFTER the primary, you'd better start by following it BEFORE the primary.

Old Mitch only won his last election by 6%.
Plus he has pissed off hundreds of thousands of KY conservative
voters.

Good luck Mitch, payback could be a bitch for you.

Don’t think I’d vote for Mitch after he trashed me and bragged about
crushing me.

Think I’d pass.

Plus McConnell already has tools to stop Obama nominations.
He is just too weak or afraid to use them.

I don’t live in Kentucky, but to any Republican who lives in Kentucky, this should be a simple decision. When the next Supreme Court Justice is on the line, who would you like casting your vote? Mitch McConnell or Alison Grimes?

Well, given that Mitch, John McCain, Lindsey Graham would rather confirm liberal judges vs. fight against them, especially when it comes to Supreme Court Justices, I'd say I'd rather have a Tea-Party Senator or no Republican at all.

Given the past GOP-E Senator voting patterns where Supreme Court justices are concerned, I'd say that was a pretty stupid thing for you to post.

"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

Here's another quote by Reagan that you probably don't appreciate:

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

Neither. I would prefer President Cruz nominates Mark Levin and he tells the Senate to piss off.

“Well, unfortunately, thats not how the process works.”

I thought the Senate provided advice and consent. Their vote is more of a vote of confidence than actual approval.

But I am probably incorrect.

Nothing is preventing McConnell from leading Fillibusters on Obama’s
Nominee’s right now, other than being a coward.

Except the fillibuster rules for nominees changed last year. So there IS something preventing him in fact.

I don't see a victory in that. With GOPe in control we got a SCOTUS Chief Justice that ruled the govt can demand I buy something I don't want and can make all my medical decisions for me. It was a Pub Chief Justice Roberts who was the deciding vote on obamacare.

Why in the world would I ever vote for a GOPe candidate again.

McConnell trashed every conservative in KY.
Then bragged about “crushing” them.’”

And you think they are going to give their vote to him?

I don’t think so.
McConnell won his last election by only 6%
Odds are Grimes will help him apply for a job at Trent Lott’s Lobbying
Firm.
