Incumbent Republicans appeared poised to cruise to victory in key primary elections Tuesday, offering fresh evidence that the partys establishment wing has successfully neutralized outside conservative groups that have vexed congressional leaders since the rise of the tea party.
In Kentucky, Sen. Mitch McConnell, the partys leader in the Senate, easily won renomination for a sixth term against a tea-party-backed challenger who hoped to tap into tea party activists distrust of GOP leaders in Washington. Shortly after polls closed, the Associated Press declared McConnell the winner.
McConnell now faces what will probably be a more significant challenge in the general election from Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, who glided to the Democratic nomination Tuesday.
As in Kentucky, an effort by conservative groups to unseat an ally of House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) appeared to fizzle in Idaho. Rep. Mike Simpson was on track to defeat his tea-party-funded challenger, Bryan Smith, with help from a late infusion of outside spending from establishment groups such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

He was coming out tying his D competitor to 0 tonight on local news . Sounded like someone put a burr under his tail
Would be nice if he acted the same in DC!
This is a moral victory. If anything, McConnell will be forced to stay to the right, at least till November. He knows now that there is a sizable vote ready to go against him. We don’t have to defeat every establishment Republican to get the point across. Bevin was not a great candidate and heavily underfunded, but he still got almost 36% of the vote. McConnell has been given his warning and he knows now there are enough Republicans who could stay home and doom his reelection chances.
That is INSANITY!
How did OBAMA help our cause when you refused to vote for McCain or Romney?
Well, do the math.
Show is NOW how you can get the Democrats and the Independents to vote “Conservative” when you can not even win in a Republican Primary where there are very few Commies?

“Both” political parties have to much to lose if the GOP-E started to vote for ideas that would actually CONSERVE America.
Boehner, as Speaker, will not appoint a House Special Committee to investigate the IRS targeted harassment of Conservative Groups, because the GOP-E and the Democrats want to keep on making the Federal Government a larger tax burden every year.
How else can they keep us from open rebellion? Well, other than the armed Obamadrones, and yeah, the Post Office SWAT Teams.
Son-of-a-Mitch McConnell will continue to increase our tax burden, just as he has proudly done for the last 24 years.
FORWARD, TO THE BOTTOM!
Oh, Romney would have done everything Obama has done, doncha know? /s
Mitch can only survive if he spends the next 6 months voting conservative.

Yep;and that is exactly what he’ll do because he knows a lot of dumb a** Republicans will say: “Oh, sweet. Little Mitch really is a Conservative. All those ignorant, Redneck, flag-waving, Patriotic TEA Partiers were wrong. Oh how I love Mitch. I just can’t wait to vote for him in November so he can bend me over again in January and screw me for six more years.”
Did the Dems vote early and often for Mitch or is it a closed primary?
I voted against Cornyn in the primary. He won anyway.
I won't be voting for the liberal bastard in the general election.
/johnny
Not really. Mitch is NOT on your side. For dissing and attacking the TEA Party (and not attacking Rustler Reid and trying to enforce the Constitution ) he needs to go down.
We are still working on fixing the problem of unelecting a Senate RINO 18 years ago.
So it goes.
See--that is why the abbreviation for Kentucky is "KY".
Exactly right.
if you allow a pro-abort gun grabber to win, out of spite, you are NOT a “conservative” at all.
I don’t think Mitch’s health will hold up ,falling down on stage and all
Mitch needs to go down. He is NOT a Leader. His time in office has been ineffective.
These socialist mush mouthed republicrats are going to get slaughtered because 10 million of us are not going to their party. It couldn’t get worse. Obama is a total failure. We are going to stay home and let brain damaged hillary run this damned country but there is no damned way these girly man POC like bush or cristie are going anywhere without us so just sit back and watch again!!
