I won't believe it until the results are in. But if McConnell does win the primary, I hope the conservative voters in the state hold back their votes for him in the general. Better to let the seat go and have a known enemy on the field to the fore, than a backstabbing double agent wearing our uniform to snipe at us from the rear. We still have a good shot at taking the Senate without him -- and what a message that would send.

Back in ‘92 I did not vote for Diane Feinstein’s senate opponent, Michael Huffington, Arianna’s then husband from whom she got her name and money.

Feinstein was running for the first time. I certainly was against her all the way of course wasn’t going to vote for her.

I didn’t vote for Huffington, or Feinsten, and I was right about Huffington.

But, looking back, it would have been better to have had Huffington win and keep Feinstein out, never letting her get a foot hold.

In other words, if I lived in KY I’d be voting for Bevin in this primary, and voting for whomever turns out to be the Republican nominee in the fall.

I learned a lesson.
