If I were a Kentucky resident ... I'd immediately begin to organize a write-in campaign for Bevin in the general election. Grimes is going to beat McConnell. Getting enough write-in votes for Bevin to make the news cycle would drive the message firmly home in that wake. Republicans can't win without conservatives.

That is a most interesting idea. It at least raises questions that should be asked:

Could it be done?

Has it ever been done? (If so-how was it done?)

What about McConnell as a candidate against the democrat in the general election? (Can he win with a 30% approval rating going into it?)

For the conservative voter:

Is there any reason to vote for McConnell, in light of his open and declared hostility toward the Tea Party/what it stands for?

Only 9% turned out for the election and of those-More turned out for the democrat than for the turtle- Looks like Mitch is going to lose in November either way. Perhaps an Outside-The-Box write in campaign for Bevin could work?
