McDaniel supporters have also questioned the Madison Police Department and wondered whether the cops coordinated with the Cochran campaign. Erick Erickson, the editor-in-chief of the conservative political blog RedState, wrote a post Monday noting the lack of press releases from the department has issued this year before issuing a flurry of announcements on the Kelly investigation. Erickson said this disparity made him wonder if it was a "coordinated hit" on McDaniel.

UHHHH...YES!
Yes
I’m also wondering why, since she’s the wife of a sitting senator, it wasn’t immediately a federal case...
Why was there even discretion on the part of the Cochran campaign about this? Looks to me like there would have been only one recourse, and that was to call in secret service or whoever handles this type of threat against a sitting senator’s wife.
Did they contact the secret service in a timely fashion?
Cochran is running a very dirty campaign. Maybe he’s auditioning to switch
parties.
I don’t actually think it’s Cochran doing this. Have you seen the latest pictures of him? I don’t think he’s got the mental faculties to do this type of stuff anymore. Honestly. He wanted to retire. He looks so very tired and worn out. I really think this is why his handlers won’t let him debate McDaniel. He doesn’t have the mental acuity for a debate.
This has the Barbour machine written all over it though. And Cochran is guilty of putting them in charge of his campaign. I just don’t think he’s actually the one pulling the strings here.
One of the articles indicated that his campaign honchos has this information for days/week before they even contacted Thad about it. That’s disturbing in and of itself.
Mississippi politics is a very dirty business.
Screw the Rove/McConnell/Barbour/gOpE and the horse they rode in on.
I think it would have been the Capitol Police, not the Secret Service.
if even half of what you write is true, that is horrifying. reminds me of when wilson was incapcitated, and his wife was pulling the strings in 1919. let the guy retire and live out the rest of his days with his mistress
Still, not Madison PD.
That is my guess.
"We were made aware of [the video] that morning because people were emailing us saying, Did you see this? Russell told The Hill. We conducted our own review for a few days and then went to Sen. Cochran about it, and that was when the decision was made to turn it over to the attorneys."
would the capitol police have jurisdiction in Miss.? if it was a federal offense the FBI would probably investigate
Madison PD a/k/a Barbour’s running dogs
If I found out someone on my campaign and/or legal staff withheld information regarding the safety of my spouse for even five MINUTES I’d have fired them all on the spot! Much less my spouse that’s as vulnerable as a little old lady in a home.
I’m just like ‘wth’?
How come no one else saw it in the political world? Three weeks ago???
more political advantage for cochran/barbour to sit on until closer to the election
There’s just too much hinky stuff with the story. Way too much.
Two weeks is enough time for any video surveillance to be overwritten or just deleted. And any shift work records to be diddled. Etc.
Why on earth would you WAIT when there was an obvious threat to her (and any other little old people in that home) and an obvious security breach at that home? He could have been actually dangerous. He could have skipped the country in the ensuing 2 weeks.
this story is like an onion. the more layers you peel back, the more it stinks
