And they are there for the excitement and risk. That is all part of it. If the altitude doesn’t get you, the snow and bitter cold will. And, BTW, there is a risk of avalanches.

There are plenty of other places to hike where there is virtually no risk. Especially here in Colorado.

I was watching a show about this particular avalanche. People die in that particular area all the time. Building sized chunks of ice are constantly shifting, breaking and falling over. It is what it is.
