Amazon does have a Kindle for PC app that you can download for free. Also Kindle apps for android and iphones. (Amazon wants to sell you the kindle books).

Ummm... you might want to re-title your post. That is a Kindle for Windows (tm) app. Those of us running Linux, Unix, or BSD (to cite but a few examples) will find no joy with your link. Just FYI.
