Damn short list. I can only think of two: Jesse Helms of North Carolina and Carl Curtis of Nebraska.

Lots of Freepers may remember Helms, but I'd wager that there are damn few who remember Curtis.

I met him once in the 1970s. He was TEA Party before there was a TEA Party.

Carl Curtis was still standing loyal to Nixon even to the end of Watergate when he resigned.

Curtis was also just about the biggest anti-LBJ great society Republican in DC.

good call. a real conservative.

Curtis wrote a book you should try to get from Interlibrary Loan: ‘’Forty Years against the Tide’’.
