Chipotle is not owned by McDonalds. It was once, but they sold it just before it’s national expansion.

but is actually owned by McDonald's Micky D spun them off in 2006. I remember because my mother owned shares in MCD and called me in connection with the transaction.
Looking at the Wikipedia, it seems Chipotle was founded in Denver in 1993, and MCD invested heavily in 1998, when they had 16 restaurants. By the time MCD bailed, they had over 500. They now have 1600 locations.
