While I don;t agree with his stance on Gun Control, from what I see he is a reasonable man and if he was in office would take a measured approach on things like this.
"I have an opinion on gun control that differs with many Republicans. However, this opinion is not a motivating passion for me. My motivating passions are liberty, small government, individual responsibility, etc.. I would promise to shelve my opinions on gun control for the duration of my term in office so that I can focus on my passions and return this country to it's once free state."

That's it exactly. He loves this country and the Constitution, and is the opposite of a demagogue; he is a teacher, a problem solver and a healer.
