China is also erecting oil platforms in waters clear within Vietnamese territory.
Asian countries are gonna hafta pull together on this problem.

Absolutely! If they don’t they will all be learning Chinese soon.

Guess the Chicoms didn’t learn from the last invasion.

Let’s see who the aggressors in Indochina were:

1954-64: No. Vietnam leaves troops behind in South Vietnam in violation of the 1954 Geneva Agreements between ONLY France and No. Vietnam. Infiltration continues unabated until fullscale invasions in 1965 including Idrang and Ashua Valley battles

1965-75: No. Vietnam openly invades S. Vietnam, esp. in 1965, 1968 (Tet), 1972 Easter Offensive, 1975, Final Offensive despite “Peace Agreement” in 1973

1959-75: No. Vietnamese troops invade and stay in “neutral” Laos until they take it over in 1975 with their puppet troops the Pathet Lao

1959-75: No. Vietnamese troops invade and stay in Cambodia despite all kinds of peace agreements and the exortations of Prince Sihanouk that they leave the Parrott’s Beak and Fishhook regions along the SVN border.

Literally create, train and arm the genocidal Khmer Rouge until the Red China influence dominated the KR leadership and lead to a 1973 split with Hanoi.

Khmer Rouge and No. Vietnam fought in 1975, then again in 1979, with NVN troops reinvading Cambodia. Then Red China invaded NVN to aid the KR. War lasted almost 2 years with very high casualties.

Meanwhile the Khmer Rouge had murdered almost 2 million Cambodians and some Vietnamese.

Now Peking is looking for another fight with their neighbor.

I’m actually rooting for the Vietnamese, not because I like the red dictatorship in Hanoi, but because they control the defensive positions which can inflict massive casualties on Red Chinese troops.

“There will be blood”.

Meanwhile, the US bugged out in 1973 and officially in 1975. Pisspoor aggressors we were.

[My friends were freedom-fighters and liberators. Period]

Ahh, what ever happened to the good old days of communist solidarity, brotherhood, and unity???

That only lasted until Beria poisoned Stalin, then the Sino-Soviet Split.

The Chinese invaded North Vietnam after the American war ended. The Vietnamese kicked their asses.

Vietnam is a Russian ally, so it would be interesting to see if China does anything, how Putin would respond.

Putin could plausibly claim preoccupation with events in the Ukraine.

China and Vietnam have long-standing grievances with one another that go back centuries. One reason why Vietnam is more closely aligned to Russia rather than China. China even briefly invaded Vietnam during the late 70’s after Vietnam occupied much of Cambodia (a Chinese client state) in their war with Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. They managed to fight the Chinese to standstill that eventually compelled their withdrawal.

I fully expect Taiwan to voluntarily re-unite with China one day. Probably in my lifetime. I bet the mainlanders will even welcome them back with open arms.

Basically, Taiwan will figure out we’re in hock to the Chinese and won’t have the fighting strength, economic power, nor political will to fight a protracted war and decide to align with the bigger dog. They might enjoy some distinctive autonomy for awhile, but eventually they’ll be one state for all intents.

“....That only lasted until Beria poisoned Stalin,...”

If you have a date on that, we SHOULD declare it a National Holiday day of celebration...

The best thing that ever happened to Old “Uncle Joe”.

They have 50,000,000 more men than women, think about the ramifications of that one child policy for fifty years.

Think about the other implication of that one child policy over 50 years. Every young child has two parents, four grandparents, eight great-grandparents.

By limiting families to one child, the Chinese were able to have more women in the labor force rather than caring for children. This helped with economic expansion. But now they have an increasingly bad ratio of elderly versus young workers to support them.

The logical next step is to kill off the elderly Chinese who are no longer useful to the economy. How long before the older Chinese figure that out, and what happens when they do?

Not too long ago I posted something Pro Russian anti Chinese and about an hour later I received a call from Washington DC if I did not know any better it was someone cursing me out in Chinese. That speaks volumes about this situation.
