My second biggest complaint about Republican amnesty supporters is how lazy they are.
Take Sal Russo’s big pro-amnesty article. It’s virtually identical to the same amnesty pitches coming in from the GOP over the years.
The only difference is that Russo throws in stuff about “misty-eyed ideals of some of the liberal do-gooder reformers” for cred while championing the exact same amnesty policy. And he mentions “What is good for America should be the sole criteria for immigration reform.”
What’s good for America somehow involves permanent Democratic Party rule.
It’s six paragraphs of the same stuff about border security (under Obama) and our desperate need for Third World doctors and engineers.
It’s the same tired set of cliches. Stop me if you’ve heard any or all of these.
“The U.S. immigration system is flawed and broken”
“a rational visa policy”
“Border security must be an essential element of any immigration reform.”
These are pre-chewed talking points being vomited up all over again. They’re soulless and lifeless. And it gets worse once Russo makes his amnesty pitch.
Finally, we need to make the 11 million people who are here illegally obey the law, pay taxes and come out of the shadows. We have to get them right by the law in exchange for legal status, but not unbridled amnesty. This should include penalties, background checks to root out criminals, and the requirement that they learn English, understand the Constitution and be committed to our basic freedoms. We must ensure there is no special pathway to citizenship that puts them in front of people who waited in line.
Every dishonest phrase here has already been said by Rubio and co. Every point here has already been discredited. But that doesn’t stop Russo from using the same exact language that was worked out years ago by pollsters and consultants to sell the same rejected message.
At this point I would be more likely to trust an amnesty advocate if he would just admit that he was pitching amnesty, instead of the same old lines about going to the back of the line and no special pathway to citizenship.
Behind it all stands one man. Of course.
Norquist and his guests Tea Party Express Co-Founder and Strategist Sal Russo, America Online Founder Steve Case and American Conservative Union Chairman Al Cardenas strained to get the point across that the issue is not dead on Capitol Hill, and that House GOP leaders continue to plod along on a path to bring legislation to the floor.
All that this has really accomplished is to completely discredit Tea Party Express as an arm of the GOP establishment.
On Wednesday evening, Jenny Beth Martin, the co-founder of another leading tea party organization, Tea Party Patriots, released her own statement clarifying the groups stance.
We support legal immigration and the rule of law, according to the Constitution. There is already a legal path to citizenship for those wishing to come to the United States. Anyone who decides to get off that path and enter the United States illegally should not be given any sort of amnesty because doing so is neither fair nor equal treatment under the law.
We must also demand the Obama administration enforce our current immigration laws. Those who are determined to have entered the country illegally and are on-track for deportation should be deported. Those who have been convicted of crimes and are serving sentences for their crimes should remain incarcerated until their sentences have been served.
Conservatives are watching Congress like a hawk and will do everything to make sure immigration reform is done in a manner that respects the law and those who abide by it.
Apparently 1/7 of the prison population are illegals who are in for murder, rape, robbery, drunk driving etc etc.
It is not the law that needs fixed, it is the law that needs enforced.
I call it the CONSERVACAN PARTY——pull any remaining true conservatives out of what’s left of the republican party and go from there.
[ Tea Party Express was always a Republican operation to try to take advantage of the Tea Party wave and leverage it toward the party agenda. The real Tea Parties are grass roots and are as hard to lead as a room full of cats. ]
We almost lost Freedom Works in a simular manner if not for some extraordinary actions taken by Matt Kibe..
I was so hopeful that the Tea Party would not get compromised by the likes of Karl Rove and the GOPe!
It would appear that they AND Ophonybama’s thugs “Got to” Sal the same as they got to Chief Justice Roberts!
So, Sal, are you gonna miss the big bux ($2.5 million, reportedly) you took FRom TPE in recent years?
LIEberals and GOPes paid you more, did they?
TPE is officially on my sh!t list!
No more Taxman money, turncoats! And I hope that other donors drop you, as well!
We conservatives are screwed unless we can find another voice out here in the wilderness.
Tea Party Express was always a B.S. scam fundraising ploy. Their ads always sucked, and had zero impact. Tea Party Patriots is a serious TP organization, that is NOT for sale.
It'd not a democracy.
It's a Constitutional Republic.
I nominate The Constitutional Republic Party.
That has gone down a bit.
Obama recently released 36,000 illegal criminal insurgent aliens into the general population with no tracking whatsoever.
Yes, those in for “murder, rape, robbery, drunk driving etc etc.”
Obama and Holder and all of their cohorts...Pelosi, Reid etc etc are treasonous traitors who need to be arrested and tried. And the appropriate punishment administered
exactly, and somehow this is supposed to help the amnesty side?
The RiNO's love to pick off/buy off individuals and then pretend they represent everyone they formerly associated with. People ignore the screaming and yelling and disowning that follows, and only remember that Mr. Big of Superpatriot Express endorses Vidkun Quisling and surrender-monkey politics.
Well, with Motor Voter, that's 36,000 Democrat votes.
There is already a process in place for that. Doctors and engineers are not crossing the desert to get into the US, drug-dealers, gangsters and low-wagers are.
Build the fence, double layer, and enforce the LAW...THEN we can talk about how the LAW might be changed.
John Birch was apparently a patriot.
