Scott Walker to tea partiers: Let’s focus on taking out Democrats, not our fellow Republicans
Hot Air ^ | January 6, 2014

Posted on 05/18/2014 2:57:03 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

Some righties are grumbling about this, but c’mon. No one expects a Republican governor who’s up for reelection in a blue state to lead the “throw the RINOs out!” movement. Besides, this makes strategic sense if I’m right about Walker’s niche in the 2016 field. I see him as an establishment/tea party “hybrid” candidate who’ll challenge Christie from the right (especially on social issues) and whoever emerges as the tea-party favorite from the center (especially on immigration). His war with the left over collective bargaining reform in Wisconsin is already so legendary that there’s practically nothing he could do to ruin his conservative cred before the primaries. He’ll be acceptable to tea partiers. His task now is to make sure he’s acceptable to establishmentarians too before they settle on Christie and one obvious way to do that is to discourage tea partiers from challenging Republican incumbents. He opposed the shutdown for similar reasons, I assume, saying at the time, “I support limited government. But I want the government left to work.” That might well be his 2016 campaign slogan — and Christie’s too. Christie will simply have a harder time selling it to righties than Walker will. There may well be a new debt-ceiling standoff next month over ObamaCare (or maybe not). How do you suppose Walker will come down on that one?

Is this true, though?

[G]o and help in those elections [against vulnerable Democrats] and elect new Republicans because a year from now things will be much different if Republicans hold the United States Senate.

How? Obama might have to use his veto a lot more next year, but that’s fine by him. He’s a lame duck. At best, forcing a lightning rod like O to play goalie against GOP initiatives instead of leaving it to Harry Reid will free up a few centrist Democrats like Joe Manchin to vote with Republicans on hot-button issues knowing that they have no chance of becoming law. And this assumes, of course, that Republicans build on Reid’s precedent and nuke what’s left of the filibuster so that they can pass bills through the Senate with a simple majority. I’m not sure they will. They gain nothing politically from it given the reality of O’s veto and they’ll take a predictable beating for it from lefty hacks in the media (all of whom cheered Reid for nuking the filibuster vis-a-vis executive appointments). Worse, Democrats will be primed to exploit the new rule in 2017: It’s the GOP that’ll be defending the lion’s share of vulnerable seats in the 2016 election, which is bound to have higher Democratic turnout than usual because it’s a presidential election year. It’s worth nuking the rest of the filibuster if/when Republicans once again control the Senate and the White House. Before then, why?

The only important difference in having GOP control of the Senate next year is that Republicans will be able to veto Obama’s appointments, including/especially Supreme Court appointments. They can still do that now in theory since the filibuster remains in effect for SCOTUS nominees, but if someone on the Court resigns this year, it’s a cinch that Reid will go ahead and nuke that provision too. Having 51 Republicans for the last two years of O’s term would solve that problem going forward — if they hang together and vote unanimously against a bad Obama appointment. You trust Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, John McCain, and Mark Kirk to do that, don’t you?

Just ignore what Walker says. It’s just a suggestion and in any race where we can knock out a RINO and take the seat with a real conservative, we should do it.

Your sources are not exempt from criticism - whether they be from The Hill, WaPo or either of the WI State newspapers (which are solidly Left) - your failure to know the bias of your sources isn’t however the worst of your traits. You either deliberately confuse two notions - illegal entry and legal immigration - or are too thickheaded to grasp which of those notions is under discussion. If your sources deliberately mis-identify which topic is under discussion, to add confusion and disinformation to it, as is the program with leftist outlets - then your arguement is unsound. That you never bothered to acknowledge that the writer for The Hill- D. Strauss is in fact a far left communist, and continue to add the link to it on every post about Walker - would certainly raise the suspicion that if sincere you are either stupid and passive-aggressive or if not then you are a plant.

Not only is Walker massively pro-amnesty and pro-open borders, but his supporters on FR are incredibly obnoxious, throwing baseless accusations, such as yours in this post. Walker spoke on a webcast to a number of media people. That is why there are multiple sources with the same quotes and it is safe to say he was not misquoted.

His idiot supporters on FR are making me hate the guy, when I really just started out hating too much of his politics.

By all means stay in Connecticut with your Gov. Malloy - enjoy the communist super-majority legislature there - enjoy the actual illegal invasion right there in your own backyard, enjoy the gun grabbers too, and enjoy the SEIU and teacher’s union and the tax increases, including the income tax, the gas tax, the sales tax, and the estate tax - more power to you, enjoy cardcheck, enjoy the special protections for transgenders as well. Great job in your neck of the woods. What would you know about the Tea Party? They ever make a stop there? Or are they aware they’re too late and all the intelligent people have already gone?

I have at least a rational basis for hating your stupid governor Malloy.

I didn't have to stand on it, another poster brought you down to where you should be, in the muddy BS of your own making.

If you haven't seen how he pwned you and your "multiple sources" (read: totalitarian leftist MSM types), you surely need to scroll up.

And yes, your claims are pure BS.

Go ahead. Just keep shouting the lies and insults as loudly as you can. Pretend that Walker isn’t even more extremely pro-amnesty than Jeb Bush—like Jeb Bush, he has a Hispanic wife, but going even further than Jeb Bush Walker actually says he would allow every single Mexican who wants to move here come on in and become an American citizen too.

Try to shout down the multiple national and WI newspapers I can link to quoting Walker saying just that, even though you don’t have a single bit of evidence to link to with him saying anything to the contrary.

You Walker supporters and hacks somehow think you can chase the truth away from FR and fool readers here into thinking he’s something he’s not.

Just go ahead. Spew more insults and lies.

So that means the GOP-E attack on the tea party is going to end? What great news!

Good grief, you need to stop being such a drama queen.

I'm actually a Cruz supporter, but I don't go around like you do, exaggerating and whining about totalitarian leftist MSM reports about potential other candidates beliefs and positions.

What you're saying is pure BS, it's much like the poster that claims Sarah Palin is pro-amnesty. You can't just say stuff like that and get away with it on FR.

Kindly go back to lurking if you can't be truthful or instructive.......

Again, I’ve provided multiple links from national and WI press sources directly quoting Walker. You have offered not a shred of evidence to the contrary—yet you accuse me of being the one spewing “BS”.

Read it and weep. You’ve been pwnd, just like the dude that claims Sarah Palin is GOPE and pro-amnesty: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3157460/posts?page=75#75

Sorry, pal. The Hill is directly quoting Walker from a webcast that other MSM were on and also directly quoted. Then, he spoke directly with a leading WI newspaper reiterating the same.

If Walker were somehow simultaneously and matchingly misquoted on such an issue, and then misquoted again, he would have corrected the record—or at least you’d have been able to find some trace of his having stated contrary position somewhere else.

And I don’t doubt but that that Hill reporter is a Leftist.

Like I said, you've been pwnd, he's not on record like Jeb, or some of the others, you just want to assert something non factual, just like the idiot who claims Sarah Palin is secretly pro-amnesty.

He has links to "prove" it as well.......

You really ought to go back to lurking if you can't do better than this.

why is it either or?

we can do both taking out rinos and democrats from office via primaries.

Republicans SHOULD vote in open primaries to put in the biggest kooks in the democrat races.
