A group of more than 40 students and three Haverford professors - all Berkeley alums - objected to Birgeneau's appearance and receipt of an honorary degree, noting that many of them had participated in Occupy protests as well and wanted to stand in solidarity with Berkeley students.

As a former resident of the Peoples Republic of Berkeley I know of at least 2 speakers who were literally shouted down, to the point where they gave up trying to speak. Jeane Kirkpatrick and Bibi Netanyahu. The fascist leftists are without doubt the most intolerant people I have had the displeasure of dealing with.
