My daughter had a little Boston Terrier who was being terrorized by their toddler. I agreed to take the dog. Soon thereafter, I had to drive way across town to take some photos in an industrial area. I had to go on a Sunday so there wouldn't be any people there. I decided to take the dog.
After a few stops for photos, the dog had the routine figured out, and when I opened the car door, she darted out of the car and ran across the street. I called out to her but she wouldn't come back. She was high tailing it down the sidewalk and I knew if she got much farther away, I would never see her again, so I hurried over to the sidewalk and called her name. When she turned around, I held up her leash. She saw the leash and came running back, joyful that she would get to go for a walk.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful news about Jackie! We have adopted older dogs for the past 15 years and they are the best, although they do come with some baggage.
After our latest adoptions, a old Aussie mix and a young setter mix, I called the foster mom in desperation because the Aussie wouldn’t eat, even after I bought the food he was used to. The problem was, he was used to eating with a bunch of other dogs and couldn’t eat in the kitchen alone. The setter mix, a shut-down, scared pup, wouldn’t eat anywhere but under the computer desk. We brought the Aussie’s food out to the living room with the other dog, problem solved. Now, the setter’s over being scared, but they are used to eating in the living room, so that’s where they eat.
I think you mentioned Jackie was a Lab, exercise like you are giving her is really good for her, as well as you.
And, as for not having the right ingredients for dishes I want to try, happens to me all the time!
Trouble is Steve Moore looked weak like a typical GOPE wuss woefully unprepared to debate. In one minute of searching I found out Kelleher was a partner at Skadden Arps (trial lawyer) a firm neck deep in sweet Wall St. contracts. All Moore had to do is call Kellerher out in his hypocrisy of being a crusader against Wall St. while being in the middle of the housing bubble as a trial attorney.
Until conservatives realize they need to get in people’s faces, call them out, and win the debate playing the same rules as liberals (any way necessary) incidents will continue and those watching will consider the conservative side to lack credibility.
What states will Hillary lose that Obama won?
Wow, Pat! What a wonderful “non-shaggy dog” story. Made my day.
Jackie sounds like a very smart and loyal dog.
“What states will Hillary lose that Obama won? “
Very good map. Overwhelming actually.
My take on RINO Rove’s comments are that the Hildabeast will NOT be running.
So in that regard, who will be the next to run under the commie banner currently calling themselves “democrats”
2016, 2020 will be interesting - 2024 - I expect some of these blue states to once again loose population / electoral votes
Like so many things Rove says, he is dead wrong. Hillary is running. It's her turn for an historic Presidency, i.e., our first woman President. You can take that to the bank.
2016, 2020 will be interesting - 2024 - I expect some of these blue states to once again loose population / electoral votes
It won't be until the 2020 census that any electoral recalculations will be done. It is interesting to note that when AZ and Texas gained additional electoral votes, the Dems won the new Congressional districts.
Jackie is, after some discussion and research, a German Short-haired pointer. The SPCA said part Lab but seriously, I think Jackie is full bred.
A neighbor of mine gave me a catalogue with a leash type thing that attaches to a bike. The dog in the picture looked EXACTLY like Jackie.
These dogs....well they point. They have sad hunting dog eyes and run like greyhounds.
Speaking of foster moms for dog, my story is during my research to obtain a rescue dog I chanced upon a dog name CINDY.
I loved Cindy’s story, about three years old. I called HER foster Mom, talked, she said I would be perfect for Cindy.
Cindy sounded perfect so we arranged to meet at the SPCA.
Granddaughter ran to greet Cindy, daughter too. When I ran to meet her....
...SHE GROWLED AT ME!
It was a sign because hey, a dog you might adopt growling at you....it’s a sign of something not right. I asked the SPCA guys if they had any other dogs.
They told me go back and look. Very first cage up lopes Jackie, whole backside wagging....she’d just been spayed the day before and had only been returned to her cage a few minutes prior.
I wasn’t meant to take Cindy; I was met to take Jackie. Whose name was “Jackson” by the way, I don’t know why. I renamed her to the proper female name she deserves and sometimes call her Jacqueline.
It’s learning how they thing, what these rescue dogs have learned. The thing about the remote and cat litter scoop, come on....I’d been letting her out in the yard and she would poop and pee. But never did she run around just walk with me on leash. Jackie did not understand a yard. Jackie understood leashes.
Can you imagine how long she watched me to ascertain those objects I hold like a leash, how she got them from wherever....the cat litter scoop? Dag, it’s in the laundry room with, gasp, the cat litter pans.
But it’s way better than a puppy, I’ll tell you that. I am entirely too old for a puppy.
thanks kinda make it up as you go....
Jackie loves her leash, which I bought home from the SPCA btw, they insisted. I see why now, it’s a pretty pink thing as Jackie is a beautiful dog.
All I have to do now is show her the leash and she’s so very happy.
Two remotes with Comcast having to deliver me a new one to my door. Because Jackie didn’t really appreciate the big fenced-in yard....she wanted her leash.
Heh.
Brilliantly stated and from what I saw exactly what happened.
Fortunately or unfortunately for Moore he’s usually in a setting where he has friendlies on at least one side of the equation.
ON C-spam earlier this morning he had a moderator who didn’t know how to moderate/manage an interview and a bully who knew exactly how to bully, slick assed lawyer makes sense.
Maybe Fla maybe Va.,ohio, wis,ia,mn—other than Florid a bunch of maybes.
Anyway you cut it its a big assed maybe.
I still think that our side has better shot with a truly conservative candidate that will fire up the base and carry a certain number of npas rather than just throwing another rino out there.
Thanks for your Insight Kabar. I agree with you.
As Roy Schneider once said, “We need a bigger boat”
Yup, Jackie was your dog.
Funny thing, we were surfing the web-site looking for a new dog after our old one passed, and the first one that caught our eye was Aubrey, the setter mix. I told my husband, "oh, no, she's too young", they had her age as 3-ish. We refreshed the page and an 8 year old Aussie, Strider, popped up. He had just been released from an "adoption hold" when the prospective owners called the rescue center and said they'd changed their minds (after 6 weeks on hold!)
We filled out the application form, were approved for Strider and when we went to pick him up, little Aubrey was in the next cage. She very politely asked me if she could have a liver treat, saw the blinking "sucker" on my forehead, and we went home with two dogs. And haven't regretted a minute of it!
No way on VA. This state is gone when it comes to statewide Presidential races. Hillary will win easily here.
MN hasn't gone Rep since 1972. The last time WI went Rep was 1984. Since 1988 IA has gone Rep once in 2004. Ohio is a swing state and could go either way. FL is also a possibility.
Even winning FL and Ohio just gains 47 electoral votes leaving the Reps 17 short of 270. And the Dems have a good shot at taking NC.
Hillary and the Dems start out with a huge number of locks that will enable them to concentrate on just a few states. Since 1992, the Dems have won the popular vote in every Presidential election except 2004.
I really don't think people realize how the demographics have changed the electoral vote. We have entered the era of tribal politics and our tribe is getting smaller relative to the other tribes--thanks to immigration.

An honest Jackie question here, and bully for you taking a rescue dog.
Have you tried taking her outside and walking her without the leash? I’ll bet she would do all the same things (stopping, starting, watching)
If she needs to be trained in that regard, just start walking with the leash and “accidentally” drop it and keep on going as if nothing happened.
She sounds like a remarkable animal with a highly developed skill set. I think you’ve got a great friend, she will do well by you.
Or fewer passengers.
Anybody talk about how gracious and kind Jesus Christ this Sunday?
Right, I was referring to Jaws and Roy said that when the BIG shark hit his little boat.
I saw a great video, probably one you pointed us to, with a lecturer filling jars with marbles, and how pointless it is to give foreigners a better life by allowing more of them into USA - there are just too many people. Try to encourage them to stay where they are and improve their own countries.
Yeps, that was Roy Beck of NumbersUSA and his famous gumball video. America needs to have a rational discussion of immigration so we can develop a political consensus on what needs to be done. We have romanticized immigration and brainwashed the public that legal immigration is an unalloyed good. The nonsensical "We are a nation of immigrants" does little to move the discussion forward. It is meaningless. Every nation is a nation of immigrants. Our so-called native Americans crossed the Siberian land bridge to get here. And 85% of Americans have been born here. They are not immigrants.
