The sheriff of a small county in northeast North Carolina says he is "disgusted" by the parents of six men who are accused of sexually abusing their sister for nearly a decade, at a private family compound.
"I blame the parents for this," Perquimans County Sheriff Eric Tilley told The Huffington Post on Tuesday. "It's your responsibility as a parent to teach [your children] right and wrong. When you see a child doing something that is totally wrong and you don't correct them, then the child thinks it's OK."
Tilley said his deputies charged the six brothers, ranging in age from 19 to 27, on May 6, with a number of crimes related to the alleged sexual abuse of their 16-year-old sister. The sheriff said the alleged abuse began when the girl was 4 years old and continued until she was almost 15.
Authorities have identified the brothers as Aaron Jackson, 19, Benjamin Jackson, also 19, Nathaniel Jackson, 21, Mathew Jackson, 23, Jon Jackson, 25, and Eric Jackson, 27.
Tilley described the family as "bizarre" and said he believes the father is "anti-government" and "anti-schools."
"The children were home schooled with very limited education," said the sheriff. "They were very private and the whole yard has a fence around it -- like a little compound. They're very different."

We don’t know enough about this case to call these guys demons or sexual abusers or whatever.
I went to high school with a girl who accused practically every family member of sexually abusing her. It turned out she had a history of mental illness - paranoid schizophrenia. The accusations devastated that entire extended family, even though the girl was sick.
The MSM’s rush to judge these people as backwoods redneck Deliverance banjo boy homeschoolers makes me wonder about the veracity as well.
Don’t get me wrong. I’d like to flay the skin off of every child molester if I could. But I’d be surprised if this story is as straightforward as claimed.
People are oblivious. For 30 years we’ve had bogus child abuse witch hunts that sound exactly like this. And most Americans just don’t care.
These people don’t have money. They have little chance to fight back.
Nah. Just kept from breeding -- and especially from breeding with their sisters.
Come on, why is everyone acting so shocked? The inbred redneck hillbilly stereotype has been a staple of the Southern Gothic horror genre for decades. The problem with even the most revolting fiction is that sooner or later, reality trumps it.
Let's wait until the facts are in evidence.
I trust her instincts implicitly.
The girl didn’t report it. Her brother confessed. Perhaps if she had been the initial reporter, there may have been a chance she was being untruthful. However, the way this whole thing went down by the brother confessing FIRST, I believe that the girl is NOT lying.
When a teacher or government worker abuses a kid do they describe him/her as “bizarre” and “pro-government”?
devolution
Hi!
Guess who was molested for 5 years?
Guess who told her parents and they did nothing so as to ‘preserve the family peace’.
Guess who still walked around a free man molesting other little girls because if I did tell cops, the ‘rents would have called me a liar to the cops’ faces.
Also, guess who doesn’t give a rat’s ass about your alleged “bogus child abuse witch hunt” crap.
*Oblivious*??
I wish to God I had that beautiful luxury.
Have a nice evening.
When trolling for fun and profit, the right time to attempt to disrupt a forum does not always present itself clearly.
Therefore, it is advised that one should wait for a thread with easily determined evil people that are white. Then, after dipping your brush in the whitewash, attack your subject with gusto and zeal.
Don’t forget to check your DU account this evening as there is an important message from our Leader about the republican racists in your area.
Move on, Comrade...
Wow, you’re thoroughly clueless.
WTF are you on?
What did that even mean?
The poster in question claims fluency in “English and cursive.”
Perhaps a more apt description would be “Misdirected invective and hyperbole.”
Then again, it is Saturday night and he/she may have just ingested too much polk salad.
Toss me a clue then.
If one posts like a troll, then expect to be treated like one. BTW, very little invective and the hyperbole was free.
Is “polk salad” a euphemism for little brown mushrooms?
This all happened in lightly populated Eastern North Carolina. They are not from the area and no one seems to know anything about them other than they kept to themselves and were strange. One of the brothers eventually moved to another area, and confessed to a minister who took him to the police. At first the girl was uncooperative and finally told her story. When it began to heat up they moved to Colorado but waived extradition and came back willingly.
All I have said was read in local newspapers, and I believe it is correct - but then again, maybe not.
