I appreciate your backing me up, but I disagree that he has earned even a “good for him that he is still married.”

When he’s breaking every marriage vow, staying married is no credit to him — it’s a disgrace. And it disgraces his helpless wife.

Also, since he’s taken another spouse, he should not get to make spousal care decisions. It’s a conflict of interest. What’s best for Mrs. Cochran may not necessarily coincide with what’s best for the shack-up sweetie.

An honorable man with her best interests at heart would divorce her so that her children could look out for her. But he’s not honorable. He just wants to be free to have sex with a woman not his wife without being divorced on paper. He doesn’t want people to think he’s the guy who left his wife with Alzheimer’s — when he IS that guy.

Well, I’m not buying it. He’s put his wife away. And he won’t own it. He’s a sitting U.S. senator with a sick wife who’s sexing up his “assistant” right out in the open, charging the taxpayers for her room and board and travel, and everyone is okay with it. Are we that kind of people in this country now? When did we become France?

If he divorced her, he could still support her financially. Or he could honor his marriage vows, lay off the Viagra and subscribe to Netflix. Lots of men his age do.

No, I’m still with you.

I just mean that staying married is good policy.

Beyond that he is a slimeball and beneath contempt.
