As with gay and lesbian soldiers, the issue is not whether transgender people can serve in the armed forces. The point is that they including the estimated 15,000 of them now serving have to cover up their identities. Some refrain from seeking necessary hormone treatment or other medical care, suffering anguish and risking their physical and emotional health.
Three years after the demise of dont ask, dont tell, an estimated 15,000 members of the military still must lie about themselves in order to go on risking their lives for their country. (TRANNIES)
It was gratifying, then, to hear Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel say in an interview on ABCs This Week on Sunday, Every qualified American who wants to serve our country should have an opportunity if they fit the qualifications and can do it. After all, unlike the ban on openly gay soldiers, the rule on transgender people is just a rule. There is no law prohibiting them from serving openly.
But, inexplicably, Mr. Hagel said only that he was open to reviewing the policy. He did not say whether he favored lifting the ban and when or even whether such a review might take place. There is none underway, and Mr. Hagel currently has no plan to start one. On Monday he told reporters he would prefer to learn more about the issue rather than begin a formal review.
There is no compelling medical rationale for banning transgender military service, and eliminating the ban would advance numerous military interests, including enabling commanders to better care for their service members, the panel said. Its report belongs at the top of Mr. Hagels reading list, along with the psychiatric communitys decision a year ago to finally stop mislabeling transgender identity as a mental disorder.

....never in my entire life, did I EVER think this would be a major controversy that will soon be headline news because liberals have nothing else.
No wonder the Russians and the Iranians are on the march. If our enemies were arguing about wasteful stuff like this, I’d be laughing too.
what function do trannies expect to perform in the military? do they want to replace females in administration? or men in the field? will they expect extra protection or exemptions if they are deployed to a non-trannie friendly country? If trannies require ongoing mental health counseling to deal with their identity crisis, how does that affect their suitability for high-stress occupations? Many male to female trannies are tied to makeup and clothing - false eyelashes and bright lipstick are generally against regulations - how is being fresh-faced in regulation clothing going to affect their sexual identity and mental stability? What about the rights of hetero women to barracks only with biological females? or of hetero males to barracks only with biological men? is only the gay community allowed to have preference?
Which uniform clothing standard will apply to them? Men’s or women’s? Mix and match? Whichever one they feel like that day?
I know what you mean. It just gets worse and worse. I wonder how much weirder things can possibly get.
I think of all the wild scenarios I’ve read in various “dark” futuristic novels - 1984, Brave New World, Neuromancer, Clockwork Orange, etc. Never once did I come across anything quite so bizarre and head-shaking as some of the stuff at the forefront of real life western society in the 21st century.
More to the point, exactly what part of “being a soldier” requires *anyone* to maintain their identity? Based on my experience in the Army, the sole areas where individuality mattered where those that made you better at your job. Are you particularly strong? Have good upper-body strength? Great, you’re the 60 gunner. You’e over 6’ tall? You’re probably better in a bomber cockpit than as a fighter driver. As a band member, you play your particular instrument better than the other players? Great, you’re section leader. That’s it. Got blonde hair? Who cares? You came from Kansas? So what?
Individuality is not the purpose of the military. There are very few “special snowflakes” in the services, and they’re only special because their uniqueness makes them better-suited for some highly-specialized job (which they still have to actually prove they can do). UDT, Special Forces, Sniper, Pilot, and so on.
I’m confused: “The psychiatric community” [i.e. the liberal members of the “community” who are prone to join the APA and serve on advisory committees and such] has stopped labeling it “a mental disorder,” and yet it requires “necessary hormone treatment or other medical care,” which, if refrained from, can lead to “suffering anguish and risking their physical and emotional health.”
So, then, if it isn’t a mental disorder, is it a “physical” disorder, or a “medical disorder,” or what, exactly?
I suppose my asking these questions simply shows that it is I that has some sort of disorder, not them.
No they are not arguing. Russia is making lots of gay related issues illegal, and I believe Iran is even killing them.
We can’t afford to allow perverts to control the public narrative. We can’t afford to remain silent, nor can we afford to allow liberals to use the word “hate” as a club against us. It’s loving to recognize gender identity disorder as mental illness and provide help to those suffering from this disconnect with reality. It is hateful to encourage mental illness. If a decent person’s neighbor thought he was a puppy, the loving response would not be to give him a chew toy and call him “good boy”, the kind, caring, loving response would be to try to bring him back to reality. Encouraging gender identity delusions is no different.
Give them their own unit, call it the Tranny Brigade, and drop them behind enemy lines to demoralize the foe.
“They”? You mean geldings? Say it.
I guess we are all suppose to believe Hagel, the San Fran study, and now this is all coincidence and not Obama’s fetish at work? These liberals are sick and suicidal. There is no other conclusion that this is a perverted fantasy of Obama.
“Russia is making lots of gay related issues illegal”
Are you making that up?
They have a law charging a $75 fine to Russians who target minors with homosexual propaganda.
There is no law against homosexual sex or being homosexual.
It will be very easy for the government to then turn the military against the citizenry.
We're totally [Anglo Saxon verb redacted]!
Served in the USN on a l-o-n-g cruise in the Med on a carrier in ‘61-62. During that term, various crewmembers didn’t show up for morning muster. ....Didn’t happen in my division, but it was widely known that the overboards at night were usually the weirdos that tried to make a move on straight guys.
Don’t think today’s gays and trannies would have lasted back then. ..........Our military has been corrupted and it will have to be put back in its rightful state or we will just continue to go downhill in terms of readiness to battle.
And the citizenry will have fewer qualms about firing back...
FReepers... If you love the young people in your families and your circles of friends, PLEASE do not recommend military service to them.
There was once a time in my life where I didn’t want to wish for a failure of a business, for every person working there to be thrown out on the street, out of a job.
How naive I can be.
Wishing that for entities like the New York Times may be necessary. Fortunately, if it does happen, it will be the market that does it to them in the manner we approve of, and not the hand of the government, as liberals would approve of if it were a conservative concern.
