We know next to nothing about the circumstances surrounding this pregnancy. This girl may be mentally challenged. She may have been molested by a stranger or a member of her own family. Even IF she willingly consented, a 13 yr old is not mature enough to make such a choice, i.e. statutory rape. I think it’s short-sighted and a little naive not to think she’s being very firmly pushed into an act of which consequences she cannot possibly understand.
shes being very firmly pushed into an act of which consequences she cannot possibly understand.
I am sure she is being very firmly pushed into this. Imagine if her parents, or other older relatives, or a charitable institution of some kind, or church, offered to help her with everything, guide her through the birth, and told her “We can find loving parents who will raise your baby so you will know that your child is being well raised.” Just imagine if she was given that choice.
I doubt she was.
If she can have sex, she is ready to be a parent. Should she? No...
Read the story, the psychiatrist said Those options namely continuance of the pregnancy, or its termination, were discussed. Well, like some posters have said, the baby could have been delivered alive and placed for adoption. Even better, she could have continued the pregnancy and THEN put the baby up for adoption. It doesn’t sound like she was offered those alternatives, it was more like “you terminate the pregnancy or are stuck for life with a baby”. I hope there’s a very hot place in hell for people like that.
