Washington's role in Ukraine, and its backing for the regime's neo-Nazis, has huge implications for the rest of the world.
Why do we tolerate the threat of another world war in our name? Why do we allow lies that justify this risk? The scale of our indoctrination, wrote Harold Pinter, is a "brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis", as if the truth "never happened even while it was happening".
Every year the American historian William Blum publishes his "updated summary of the record of US foreign policy" which shows that, since 1945, the US has tried to overthrow more than 50 governments, many of them democratically elected; grossly interfered in elections in 30 countries; bombed the civilian populations of 30 countries; used chemical and biological weapons; and attempted to assassinate foreign leaders.
In many cases Britain has been a collaborator. The degree of human suffering, let alone criminality, is little acknowledged in the west, despite the presence of the world's most advanced communications and nominally most free journalism. That the most numerous victims of terrorism "our" terrorism are Muslims, is unsayable. That extreme jihadism, which led to 9/11, was nurtured as a weapon of Anglo-American policy (Operation Cyclone in Afghanistan) is suppressed. In April the US state department noted that, following Nato's campaign in 2011, "Libya has become a terrorist safe haven".

We are NATO, if NATO has to fight Russia, Russian won’t fair well.
You are dead wrong, ansel12. If I was a professional you wouldn’t ‘spot’ me.
~We are NATO, if NATO has to fight Russia, Russian wont fair well.~
Why won’t you grab a rifle, pick Juan McCain for air support and go there?
I’ve done my part as part of the NATO forces defending against your side.
Will you be grabbing a rifle against NATO?
I would grab my rifle against anyone who dare to hurt me badly. I don’t see NATO a threat like this right now.
No one is out to hurt you, are you already a veteran of the Russian or Soviet military?
~No one is out to hurt you~
Good, I hope so.
~are you already a veteran of the Russian or Soviet military?~
Am I under interrogation? I know how to use a gun if it is what you ask me. It doesn’t mean I’m going to shoot you.
What do you mean if that is what I asked you, you know what I asked you.
“are you already a veteran of the Russian or Soviet military?”
Are you in right now?
I’m not in.
Interesting, did you serve in the Soviet military, or after that evil and wicked empire was brought down?
Don’t you think you are ‘slightly’ off-topic?
Not at all, your service to the Soviet Empire is relevant, your service to the Russian military is relevant.
I’m too young to be a Cold Warrior and I don’t remember much from before the Wall fell. Nothing which is worth a bit for sure.
Also I was hanging around Americans a lot as a teen and I have an idea about classic values. That is a primary reason why I’m interested in conservatism and this website.
So your military service was post Soviet, if you were seeing American tourists, then you must be from one of the major cities, your English is very good, did you learn that while working in the Russian military, or government?
Why tourists? There are a number of professors, priests, businessmen and military from UK and US in Russia. As for English I’ve learnt it in a public school.
What did your dad do that as a teen you were hanging out with UK and American professors and military, Priests, and businessmen?
He was a construction engineer, designing industrial buildings. Does it really matter?:-)
Just curious of what the conditions were, and in what city, since you say you weren't speaking of tourists, and instead meant to say that as a teen you were hanging out with UK and American military and Priests, and Professors, and businessmen.
There is some misunderstanding I think.
Back when US consulates has run a lot of programs around Russia. These people were visiting schools, colleges. If you liked it you could go to consulate proper for their classes, seminars etc.
It was a long time ago. I wouldn’t recomend one to visit US consulate now. At the time they taught about God, rule of law, checks and ballances, free enterprise etc.
Today, they would probably push for muslim outreach, abortion and gay pride.
Which Russian president(s) was your military service under, did you do Army, or Navy, or what?
