In November 2008 after the presidential election Barack Obama promised to fix Americas crumbling roads and bridges with his trillion dollar Keynesian stimulus plan.
It never happened.

Don’t worry; nobody can defend those “workers” with a straight face...
So they'll never fix the roads and bridges.
And blacks will never 'get their piece of the pie'... not if dems have anything to do with it. Promises only work with longing...
Some years ago someone posted the numbers spent during the Clinton and Bush administrations and it was huge. At that time the Dems were accusing Bush of failing to fix the infrastructure. First of all Congress sets the spending and all presidents do is squiggle their name on the bill and they always do that. Secondly the spending when Bush was pres. was far more than when Slick Willie was.
Wasn’t that what that 1st big trillion dollars we got hosed in to giving this punk ass poser?
Shovel ready jobs? Didn’t that money too get funneled to his union backers and very little got done?
And that "1st big trillion dollars" got crammed into every subsequent budget -- thanks to the miracle of "baseline budgeting" -- so that we're now working on our "5th big trillion dollars". <
With zilcho to show for it -- save some richer crony capitalists and some even more insanely inflated welfare programs.
High speed rail to places. Sorry... high speed rail from Tampa to Orlando would be slower than Amtrak...stops are planned from Tamps International Airportto downtown (5 miles), then Plant City (20 miles), Lakeland (8 miles), Haines City (25 miles), Kissimmee (10 miles) Disney (4) Orlando (6) to Orlando International Airport (6). Sorry the stops won’t make the train hit high speed.
I think you mean eastern Washington. As a transportation professional I can tell you why the roads and bridges in Washington are crumbling, it’s because they spend it all on roads and bridges for Seattle/King County! They are currently spending $6 Billion on one bridge and one tunnel while the rest of the cities and counties get next to nothing.
That $6 billion would fix or build just about every planned or current project for the next 20 years and provide excellent growth opportunities for economic investment. Instead the new buzzword is congestion management/relief. He’ll, just the annual bond payments on these two boondoggles would put a pretty big dent in this states transportation needs.
Next thing WSDOT is planning is the mileage tax to go along with all of the tolls. This should hit us in about 3-5 years.
Yes, I meant Eastern WA. I think I have map dyslexia, if that is a thing.
