A compound found in wine and chocolate may not be linked to improved health as was once claimed, according to a new study.
The compound resveratrol was not associated with less inflammation, cardiovascular disease or cancer or with increased longevity among a group of elderly Italians, researchers found.
Research on resveratrol hit a snag in 2012, when one of the fields leading researchers was accused of fabricating data.

if you ever watch cnbc, you can see the enormous pressure ceos are under to increase revenue and increase stock prices. so its difficult for me to see how some people (like my dear old dad) think pharmaceutical cos are searching for cures rather than drugs that will simply sustain you.
with that in mind, I think there is a lot of misinformation put out there and things that are illogical. so the case in point is red wine. the ingredient in red wine, reservatol,comes from the grapes its made from. so why the frig are they always talking about red wine rather than grapes? is it stupidity or something else?
I like a good wine and I love chocolate. This article is specious at best. To enjoy something wholesome is beneficial to the soul.

Because a moderate amount of alcohol is apparently good for the heart given no other conflicting abnormalities. A low carb beverage is preferred.
People who control their weight won’t be hurt by moderate amounts of anything, including wine and chocolate. Tubby people should avoid both.
I suppose the diet of chocolate included refined sugars offsetting the cocoa benefits.
How about a trial consisting of single malt and cacao nibs?

I’d say the only thing you can eat that will really make a difference is anything containing sufficient amounts of protein. Meats; milk, cheeses, seafood, nuts, beans; that kind of stuff. It’s the only real miracle food.
But, it's very hard to look around and see nothing but good health these days. There are a whole lot of very unhealthy, physically inactive porkers out there and they're doing something wrong. Each of them should try to figure out what needs to be done.

What increases inflammation is rancid seed oils. Safflower and canola. They all are. They need to be avoided but they are in all packaged foods.
Me too. Chocolate makes me happy, chocolate and kittens.
