FYI, this was a local primary so any voter who voted twice would be from the same party:

Voters in Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford and Sumner counties are selecting nominees for judges, court clerks, sheriffs and commissioners. Winners of the Republican and Democratic primaries will face off in local general elections in August.

Apparently some counties in Tennessee have two primaries. Seems a bit of a waste of resources and confusing to the public. The general election date refered to here is the primary date for the rest of the candidates

Last week was the county primary elections in TN. The general election for these positions will be in Aug., when we also have our state primary elections .... state senators and representatives, governor, US senators and representatives.
Then we have the state general elections in Nov.

I don’t know why they split it up so much. I agree it seems to be a waste of resources.
