DONETSK, May 13 /ITAR-TASS/. Pavel Gubarev, the people’s governor of Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, has announced his plans to found his own party, Novorossia, with a headquarters in Donetsk, the local media reported on Tuesday.

“The new political system of the Donetsk People’s Republic should have nothing in common with Ukraine’s previous oligarchic policy,” Gubarev said. “To realize these principles, I, on my own behalf, announce the establishment of a new party, Novorossia [Novorussia is a historical term referring to territory that acceded to the Russian Empire in the 1700s and made part of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, part of the former Soviet Union, in 1922]. Its head office will be located in Donetsk.”

This political association, according to Gubarev, would unite people who had approved themselves as “true patriots and defenders of their motherland.” “A founding congress of the party will soon be held in Donetsk. We will announce our charter, ideology and development strategy at this congress,” he noted.

The increasingly irrelevant Party Of Regions looks set to be supplanted soon in the self-proclaimed Donetsk Republic by a new political party to be called the Novorossiya Party. According to the governor, Pavel Gubarev, a founding congress for it is to be called soon.

I really am beginning to wonder what “Novomehico” will look like.

The last stages of the Soviet collapse.

Now the last surviving “big country” Ukraine is going through the same thing and people want to get up in different beds.

What they have in common is a country on its deathbed. That happened to the Soviet Union and its happening now to Ukraine.

It is of dubious constitutionality? Sure, the dissolution of the Soviet Union was technically illegal. So is the dissolution of Ukraine.

But the Maidan regime is discovering, like the Soviet junta before it, that calling out the tanks won’t preserve the union.

Might still makes right, as it always has.

Sure, the dissolution of the Soviet Union was technically illegal.

Not sure if you want to go there. The Baltic Republics were never legally incorporated into the Soviet Union in the first place.
