HOUSTON The Houston City Council is currently considering an equal rights ordinance which would allow men and women to use restrooms and shower rooms designated for the opposite sex, as long as they identify with the opposite gender.
Houston Mayor Annise Parker, an open lesbian, is promoting an Equal Rights Ordinance designed to quell any discrimination in Americas fourth largest cityincluding any discrimination on the basis of gender identity.
Gender identity means an individuals innate identification, appearance, expression or behavior as either male or female, the most recent ordinance draft states, although the same may not correspond to the individuals body or gender as assigned at birth.
Many people are especially concerned by the Public Accommodations section of the ordinance, which would allow men to use womens restrooms, and vice versa, if they identity with the opposite sex.
It shall be unlawful for any place of public accommodation or any employee or agent thereof to intentionally deny any person entry to any restroom, shower room, or similar facility if that facility is consistent with and appropriate to that persons expression of gender identity, the ordinance states.

there is no way I’ll use a restroom where men are roaming around...privacy is privacy....
Do they have to swear on a stack of Bibles that they “identify” with the Opposite Sex, or is it based on the Honor System?
I have a theory that this degeneracy is pushed in order to create the inevitable problems with creepy peepers, assaults, and false claims of bullying and hate crimes.
When the outcry is deemed loud enough, the dem pols will be ready with the solution. Reverse the insanity? No. The answer will be cameras. People are being conditioned to believe privacy is non-existant and unimportant. Facebook nation has been duped to think that “if you have nothing to hide...” People must think that there is no harm in enabling sickos. Just ignore them and they will ignore you back.
Voyeurs will hired to watch the restrooms, paid to peep and stalk. What could go wrong? Better not need a public restroom ever.

I thought the article must be exaggerating, but apparently that is not the case.
Here is what might at first appear to be a pinch of sanity in the Equal Rights Ordinance FAQ:
Does the ordinance require places of public accommodation to allow men/women to use restrooms designated for the opposite sex?In reality this will probably mean that if a business owner denies bathroom access to an individual on the basis of gender identity, that owner will have to spend thousands of dollars to hire an attorney, and will spend hundreds of hours to prove in court that the gender identity judgment was made in good faith.No. It does not prevent a place of public accommodation from denying a patron access to a gender specific facility (e.g. restroom, locker room, etc.) so long as the business owner has a good faith belief that the gender identity of that patron is not consistent with the gender designation of the facility.
Unless the ordinance provides a penalty for gays and transsexuals who abuse the system, even if the owner's judgment is accepted by the court the first time, nothing will prevent the same individual or a string of others sent by a gay/transsexual organization from returning to the same business and reasserting the "right" to use the wrong bathroom. The gays/transsexuals can continue to target the business until the owner either stops protecting his straight customers from shocking bathroom encounters or goes broke. The business owner's nightmare, which the local leftist media will be thrilled to report in detail, will serve as a warning to other businesses: capitulate or you might be next.
The ordinance will drive away customers, and will make every Houston business owner a potential target for expensive, time-consuming legal abuse.
Stop this nonsense from spreading.
“homosexuals public restroom pickups”
Google only if you have a strong stomach. I didn’t click on any of the links but apparently this goes on a lot.
This ordinance will make every business in Houston a potential target for fines and lawsuits. Guess the mayor didn’t think that through. Another point here, we she was first elected, she and the media stressed that her being a lezzie made no difference to her governance. Well, now that she is in her last legal term, her true colors are coming out.
Nothing any better than what we have in Houston. We spend more per capita dining out than any other US city. Where Austin may have 1 or 2 restaurants of a given type, we have 10 or 20.
If she is one of the new breed of LGBT fascists, she regards the problems that the ordinance will create as features, not bugs.
Molly Ringworm hopes that Abortion Barbie becomes the Governor of Houston, Texas so apparently the Lesbian Mayor of Houston doesn’t have as much power as the city’s personal governor.
You can change your address, you can change your name legally, you can change your political party affiliation, but all of them require that you go on the record and make the claim.
Sexual identity is “fluid” now so you can whip it out where you want and let your freak flag fly different days different ways.
