To: Lonesome in Massachussets

Well, it was predicted long ago that this sort of thing would happen once the distance of time between WWII and “the future” was sufficient...given the generally idiotic nature of humanity, this was not exactly a bold prediction.

Growing up in New York in the 1950’s I knew lots of refugees from Europe, including a lot of folks who lost much of their families. I had a Jewish girlfriend. Her family, and most of her friends’ families had lost members in Europe, some in Israel in 1967 and 1973. In the Army our Roman Catholic chaplain was a local German priest who spend the war in Dachau for opposition to the Nazis. (The bravest man I ever knew.) I cannot find the words to express my outrage and disgust at this.
