Here’s some additional information not in the article:
1. It’s a simple matter to transfer the gun back to Warren legally through any Colorado FFL.
2. The Fort Collins police department is sitting on several other guns that they have illegally stolen under a variety of similar circumstances and have refused to give any of them back.
3. The anti-gun City Attorney threatened to charge the Police Chief with illegal transfer under the new state laws even if he LEGALLY transferred any of the guns back to their rightful owners.
4. In Warren’s case, when the hospital employee took her gun, and every time that gun was handed from person to person thereafter, under Colorado law, an illegal transfer took place, AND the City Attorney chose to ignore ALL of those illegal transfers.
5. As a consequence of the Reporter-Herald’s article, all of the guns stolen by the police department are scheduled to be given back.
6. As a consequence of Warren’s tenacious perseverance and the attendant publicity, the Fort Collins police department has changed their policy to no longer steal the firearms of private citizens, but confiscate a gun only if it the possessor is being arrested for a crime involving that gun.
