There’s a real good chance I’d be in the slammer if the House invited me to testify as to what I think of them.

And I wouldn’t just cuss ‘em out either.

In a penetrating opinion PIECE typical of its author, Andrew McCarthy argues that the House leadership squandered a year bringing Lois Lerner under contempt. He argued that she should have been proffered immunity and forced to testify because it was in the higher interest of the nation to expose the full IRS conspiracy then merely to punish Lois Lerner. He points out that punishment of the individual is outweighed by the national interest.

It now appears that we will have neither. John Boehner's announcement that he will not prosecute Lois Lerner for contempt means that the entire year was in fact wasted. Real conservatives want to know why?

The answer is increasingly clear, John Boehner is opposed to the Tea Party Movement, he feels threatened by it, and he has shown that he is certainly not opposed to it being suppressed. Even as John Boehner dithered, the IRS undertook to codify the very crimes that they are currently being so ineffectually investigated for. Not only has Boehner utterly bungled his responsibility to investigate the IRS scandal, he has actually enabled the Democrats to potentially convert the situation into a green light for further suppression.

There is no excuse for John Boehner having done this, there is no excuse for him having failed to appoint a special committee to investigate the IRS just as there is no excuse for him having failed to appoint a special committee to investigate Benghazi for more than a year.

Why did the House spend the time to vote on a contempt charge if they are not going to hold her to it? What a waste of time!

So, what does holding somebody in contempt of congress even mean?

They tell you that you are in contempt and then say, “Have a nice day”? No penalty? Why bother even taking the vote?
