“But doing nothing seems like appeasement to me”

A HUGE part of the problem is that President Red Line is out of ink for the Red Line drawing pen.

No one trusts anything he says, to the point that Obama’s lying has become a real national security threat,

I think it’s perfectly possible to be worried about Putin’s shameless aggression while not expecting Obama to do anything that would stop him.

I don’t particularly like the corrupt Kiev government either at this point, but they seem to me at this point the better of two evils. I’d even venture to say that the majority of the Ukrainian people agree with me.

Polling for the Maiden before the violence began was always around 50/50 overall for Ukraine. Only 20-30% supported the Maidan in the East and were Yanukovych supporters.

However the outrage over Yanukovych's house, which revealed the depths of his corruption changed the mind of most Yanu voters. It basically killed him politically. You can see this clearly if you trawled through the posts and tweets back then.

Case example. Remember the Party of Regions mayor of Kharkiv that was shot? Hennady Kernes. He was one of the most pro-Yanu mayors out there in the East. He was against Maidan and dispatched people to Kiev to disperse them.

Yet when his corruption was fully revealed, and Putin took advantage, he exposed and condemned the Russian infiltrators and did everything he could to keep Ukraine united. And he was shot in the back for it. Every poll now shows that even the East would prefer to remain in Ukraine.

Here's Yanukovych's house again, which looks more like a theme park with a zoo and a river with a giant wooden boat.
