The Russian government claimed the Crimea referendum resulted in a 96.7% vote in favor of annexation, although a Russian government agency later wrote on its website that turnout was only 30%, with only half voting in favor of annexation.

Actually, only 15% because the Crimean referendum was also boycotted by Tartars & others!!!

That reminds me of a few years back when about three thousand ballots; all pre-checked for the Democrat Party, were found bundled up in baling wire and floating in the San Francisco Bay. One of the ballot organizers was fired on separate charges for embezellment and inappropriate us of funds. It seems she had a girl friend who was in need of a few thousand dollars to complete ‘her’ sex reassignment hormonal therapy. It made quite a story for summer reading. Weeks later, nobody ever brought the subject up again. Poof! the topic was gone, just like the money, just like the floating bale of ballots.
