NEW YORK -- It took nearly the entire draft, but Michael Sam and the NFL finally made history.
The St. Louis Rams used the 249th pick in the seventh round to select Sam, who has officially become the league's first openly gay player.
Being picked by St. Louis means Sam will stay in the state where he played college football as a standout at the University of Missouri.

perhaps we are long overdue for an “H” rating for v-chip blocking.
ESPN producers and suits are stuck on stupid.
that visual caused parents to change the chanel.
BTW if you vchip block a chanel and your sat service/cable is hooked to the internet that fact is recorded for neilson ratings.
imagine what happens if they record espn being blocked when price setting time comes around.
Sports are 1000% better without the idiotic analysts involved in any way.
Ha! They'll be next.
You don’t think one of the back ups will be cut in the name of diversity? If the guy does get cut he should use it to his advantage and demand a trade at more money.
Like I said, the Rams owners may be looking to move the team real soon, and the NFL basically told them if they wanted to make the move, they’d better take Sam.
Kneecapped?
the link alone tells me more than I need/want to know.
just plain gross.
what next? the first nfl player that likes sex with farm animals? (those poor cows.)
the same people who bitched about a guy talking about a girlfriend in the stands of a game are now showing video of two homos licking each other as if it’s normal..
“When you go to a sportsbar demand the the rams be removed from any tv viewing.”
That’s a great idea.
And call all the networks that carry NFL games and tell them you will not watch their network until Sam is cut or the Rams are kicked out if the NFL.
that picture should have the NFL logo emblazoned on it with the caption: “not your father’s football.”
the rams logo must be made marketing poison.
So Sam the Ram...ram-or or ram-ee? Missouri is so.o.o.o. lucky! And to think he is high in the thoughts of OBambi...wants a go, maybe?
We can add St Louis to the list that includes San Fran for the next fire’n’brimstone smiting ala Sodom and Gomorrah...
burn your rams shirt/hat/poster/football and post the picture.
The Ram brass will be called homophobic, and be forced to sell the team. Obama will say they acted stupidly. Eric Holder will open a civil rights criminal investigation. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will throw 3 decks of race cards at them. Desmond Tutu will finally go to Hell. Chris Matthews will feel another thrill up his leg. The Hildebeast will ask what difference does his sexuality make. Bill Clinton will want him as an intern, pissing off Monica Lewinsky. Nancy Pelosi will say Sam, Sam, Sam. Harry Reid will offer him some free BLM farm land, formerly owned by Clive Bundy. Elijah Cummings will call for a full investigation, and won't boycott it. Andrew Cuomo will say he is welcome in New York. De Blasio will pay his lost earnings, by taxing the rich. Obama will exempt him from Obamacare, and say there isn't a smidgeon of a reason for it. The Mooche will swoon in vain over him, and oh yes, it will be Bush's fault.
@ 6’2”, 260, he’s a “tweener” meaning he’s too small to be a DE and too big to be a LB in a 4-3 Defense.
The Rams play a 4-3, not a 3-4 where Sam would be better suited as a LB/DE hybrid, but he lacks speed to play either position.
Rams 1st round pick, OT Greg Robinson is 6’5”, 335 and runs a 4.9 40, same 40 time as the 6’2”, 260 Sam.
Sam is too slow to play LB in a 3-4 and too small and too slow to play DE.
Again, the Rams had three 7th round picks and this was a throw away pick. I just hope they can deal with the blowback when they cut him because he won’t make the final roster, especially on one of the best DL’s in the NFL
Maybe they made a deal with the NFL for some better officiating next season.
Perhaps the TSA can arrest him.
who controls NFL marketing? NYC Madison avenue types?
the players will be forced to do this and be tow the party line like good serfs.
