I've been pulled over by guys like bike800 and as long as you treat them with respect and don't act like they're stupid ("No officer, I don't know how fast I was going") you'll get respect back and treated well.

I hear ya.

When I was questioned in a parking lot as to what weapon I was carrying on my person, the morning the new iPhone was to come out, they treated me with the utmost respect and kindness.
I replied with a smile: "Springfield XDm forty-five."
He actually said:
"SWEET!"

There ARE good law enforcement personnel out there.

I'm licensed for conceal/carry here in Illinois and have to say, I'm not sure I'm going to do it. I know the Illinois State Police have been going around the state training local police departments how to interact with conceal/carry folks -- but I've heard too many stories and too many comments from some in the law enforcement community here that literally cannot wait for one of us with conceal/carry permits to become the first "test case."

IMO, they're gunning for us.
