A newly opened upstate-themed bar in Windsor Terrace christened Mohawk Tavern in April has dropped the name after locals and Native Americans cried foul. Once we heard the comments and people of Native American ancestry come in and say it was offensive, we figured it would be best to change the name out of respect for them, said owner Paul Hamill, who will switch the pubs name to Adirondacks in honor of the park and mountain range.

Once a Lamar Redskin...Always a Lamar Redskin
let the whiners go whizz into the wind
LOL! I’ll tell him!
He is still and A%M Aggie,no one has taken that away from him!
ahahahaha GET ER DONE!!
Utica is an ancient city in modern day Tunisia.
Site of several Punic battles.
Very close to that scene in Patton where Scott says he was there.in antiquity....Battle of Zama
Lots of Uticas here including near where I grew up in MS
Killed a few family members if the stories are correct, the hell with foreign Indians.
The Choctaw tribe in MS seem OK.....pretty cohesive and with less of the bad issues
I have noted out west that Indian run businesses on the various highways are poorly run in comparison to whites
And that the Puebloan folks tend to be a little more organized
Small wonder given they could build apartments pretty early on without the wheel
It appeared to me most northeastern coastal Indians are as much or more black or white as Indian
But the Mohawk from the NY Canada border are pretty real looking.....kinda big and aquiline with great hair
I was just in Cherokee NC yesterday coming back from biz
They appear very Indian....the Real People.....isolated in remote Appalachia a century plus
Sad when the majority erase another people from history. Sadder when the minority peoples erase themselves.
Where is all this PRIDE these people claim to have??
I think I’ll get a mohawk haircut just to be politically in-correct.
Better rename the haircut. Better rename the “Mohawk” Valley. Mohawk carpet.
That is so silly. So it is politically incorrect to name anything after a group of people? I guess half the place names in the the country would be out.
Why don’t we just give it up and name stuff A, B, C, etc?
Here is a politically incorrect skit for a Saturday morning.

PS. If the name Mohawk offends you, don’t watch this. Your head will explode.
“Removing any and Indian names is a good start.”
There goes Massachusetts. :-)
.
They should rename it the Tommy Hawk Tavern.
Mohawk gets walked on all the time by everyone and just lie there like a door mat.
Sigh. If the locals have a problem, then I understand the name change. It’s bad for business. And the folks in Windsor Terrace like their bars.
He could rename the joint as the
BLANKETASS BAR
ROFLMAO!! Perfect!!
