Boehner’s a doormat just as much as Trey Gowdy is a bulldog.
Trey will declare, “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!!” while Boehner is crying & applying tanning cream.
Gowdy’s a Cinncinatus; he doesn’t regard a Congressional career as the highest of all goals, unlike the tanned Ohioan. If the GOP-E backstabs him, he’ll come back to South Carolina; we here have much that he can do for the cause of liberty.

You are likely correct. Except for the press (newspapers were big then) Nixon would have gotten away with his stonewalling.
Whether they like it or not their only two options are to Impeach and refuse to authorize another dime of money.
It's the only power they have.
