The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office pulled its deputies off the streets Thursday afternoon and asked other local law enforcement agencies to respond to calls of service

I wonder if this would've happened 40 years ago. Not the manufacturing defect, but a whole police force pulled off the streets because they wouldn't dare go out without a firearm. They don't even have a shotgun? Personal weapon? This is pathetic. This is the manifestation of a new theory of law enforcement that has absolved LEOs of accepting any more risk than the rest of us take when we leave the house.

Union officer-safety rules. It's why you almost never see a single officer make a traffic stop any more.
