Big Shrinkage at SEIU Healthcare Michigan: Not Just the Pool

The SEIU has always been all about using dirty tricks and shady lobbying to accomplish their only real goal- to grow at any cost. But what SEIU Healthcare Michigan did to home healthcare workers in their state has to be one of the dirtiest tricks ever used.

SEIU Healthcare Michigan exploited a legal loophole using the Michigan Quality Community Care Council (MCQ3) to force parents and family of sick children into their union. Families who saved the state thousands of dollars a month by taking care of adult children with disabilities had money taken out of their pockets as they were forced to pay dues to the SEIU. Meanwhile, the SEIU racked up nearly $33 Million in forced dues.

It took a court ruling and a statewide ballot initiative for judges and voters to finally put an end to the SEIU’s disgusting practice. Now that the SEIU has been forced to stop unionizing these families, it seems these healthcare workers are no longer interested in the SEIU’s “services”:

This was Granholms doing. The union had the help of the democrat governor. This was a total shame by the Dems.

Let me be perfectly clear here, this was a dem operation to get money for reelection from the state government feed threw the SEIU.

Did anyone actually pay the SEIU dues for the simple act of taking care of their sick family member ?

That I cannot fathom.

There was no choice, the money was simply withheld.

Just a look back at how this happened and who helped it happen.

GOP Senators, SEIU Taxpayer Giveaways, Campaign Cash and More, OH MY!

On Aug. 5, 2009, Sen. Jason Allen, R-Traverse City, introduced Senate Bill 731, which would give statutory cover to a scheme transferring approximately $6.6 million in taxpayer money annually to the SEIU government employee union, one of the parents of ACORN. This is accomplished by creating a shell government "employer" for some 42,000 individuals who are actually hired by elderly or disabled Medicaid recipients to provide personal care services in their homes.

(snip)

Senate Bill 731 was co-sponsored by these Republican Senators:Roger Kahn, Bruce Patterson, Valde Garcia, Tony Stamas, Judson Gilbert, Mark Jansen, Randy Richardville, and Patricia Birkholz.

It was also co-sponsored by the following Democratic Senators: Raymond Basham, Martha Scott, Dennis Olshove, Irma Clark-Coleman, Michael Switalski, Gilda Jacobs, Deborah Cherry and Gretchen Whitmer.

Sadly when Jason Allen ran for the first district US representative seat and a few of us spoke up the same old tired ass moderate FReepers screeched "YOU JUST WANT THE DEMOCRATS TO WIN!". Fortunately Jason Allen lost the primary to tea partier Dan Benishek. Benishek has been a disappointment but I doubt he's as bad as Allen would have been.

I haven’t followed that race at all and haven’t heard squat out of Benishek in ages.

Who pays the piper calls the tune. That government money is a social poison.
