Japan’s low crime-rates have NOTHING to do with it’s gun laws —it’s a culture that largely polices itself.

In fact here is the situation in Japan —cops have guns, and professional criminals have guns.

From a democratic perspective, just how palatable is that?I should add that in Japan the public prosecutor can hold you in jail, incommunicado and WITHOUT CHARGES for 24 days, often under round-the-clock questioning.

In fact the Japanese case is exactly what the Founding Fathers were trying to avoid, quite apart from crime rates.

Confucian dogma says if children are raised in the correct manner social responsibility becomes almost instinctive.

Also, they are homogenious. Even so, I would not want to live like they do although I'd love to visit and go to the Akihibara district where they sell cool electronics.
